Multi-Goal Heroes of GW2

Hat-trick

  • Jonathan David – Canada v Qatar

Two goals

  • Cristiano Ronaldo – Portugal v Uzbekistan
  • Kylian Mbappé – France v Iraq

Fantasy Takeaway

GW2 was a reminder not to panic too quickly after one blank. Spain assets rebounded strongly after their frustrating 0-0 against Cape Verde, while Portugal punished those who abandoned them after their opening draw.

The key fantasy winners were Ronaldo, Mbappé and Jonathan David. Mbappé now has four goals in two games, Ronaldo delivered a major captaincy haul, and David’s hat-trick against Qatar was one of the biggest individual returns of the tournament so far.

Belgium, meanwhile, remain a concern. Two draws, only one goal scored, and a 0-0 against Iran make their popular attacking assets harder to trust, even with New Zealand still to come in GW3.

With GW3 now underway, managers had faced the classic tournament dilemma: hold players from strong teams who may rotate, or attack the final group fixtures with aggressive transfers.
