Strikers That Could Fill The Void At Old Trafford

Manchester United have had a poor start to the new season, and their inability to replace Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez has left them light of attacking options. Injury to Anthony Martial and the inabilities of Marcus Rashford in the final third has seen their price cut to a record-low to be relegated this season with bookmakers.

The Red Devils are currently around 100/1 with most bookmakers for the drop, but a turnaround in form could see them back on the hunt for a top-six finish. Punters who are hopeful of this happening can check out UK Free Bets to ensure they get maximum returns should this happen.

However, with the January transfer window fast approaching, United will be on the lookout for a new striker that can score the goals that are required to make them a force again. But, which strikers could be on their shopping list given their current transfer strategy.

Callum Wilson

One name that is being thrown around is Callum Wilson. The striker certainly fits the bill of what Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be looking for as he is lightning quick, English and knows where the net is. Wilson has come back from two serious knee injuries to reach the top level of English football and has been named in the last four England squads. He scored on his debut for the national side and could be ready for the step up.

He has already scored five goals in eight matches this season, and that is better than anyone else at Old Trafford at this point. He will likely command a large fee, especially in the winter transfer window. But, United have the money and should he be their desired target then he would be an excellent addition to the squad.

Erling Braut Haland

The name on everybody’s lips around Europe at this point is Erling Braut Haland. The 19-year-old striker excellently arrived on the European stage by scoring a hat-trick in his side’s win over Genk on matchday one. This was followed up by a second goal in the competition against Liverpool at Anfield, which is a trait that every Manchester United fan hopes that potential strikers can have.

His domestic record is simply ridiculous as he has scored eleven goals in eight appearances this season, and registered a further four assists. The Norwegian link that the club has at the moment could be a drawing point, but there will still be questions whether it is too soon for Haland to make the jump into the Premier League.

Mario Mandzukic

The Juventus forward was linked with a move to Old Trafford in the summer, before talks broke down. However, United could resurrect their interest in the 33-year-old in January. It would certainly be a gear change from their current strategy, but he is a player with undoubted ability. He has scored at least ten goals in each of the last eight seasons, which highlights that he is able to find the back of the net. His wages may be higher than United were intending, but it could be a good signing that can deliver the goods.
