Personal Data Requested

To contribute to the content on fiso.co.uk (either forum posts or website articles/links) all we require is that when registering you confirm you are 16 or over, you choose a unique username, a personal password and you enter your valid email address so you can collect your account activation code by email. You should not use any personally identifiable information (such as real name) as your username. If later you want your username changing then contact 'admin' on the fiso forum. We do not ask you for your real name or address to participate on fiso.co.uk.

Any information beyond your user name, your password, and your e-mail address during the registration process is optional. You can enter profile information about your forum username via your user control panel. This information (including your email address) can be changed by you at any time. We recommend that you do not enter personally identifiable information within your profile that other fiso registered members can view. You also have the option of what information in your account is publicly displayed. Furthermore, within your account, you have the option to opt-in or opt-out of automatically generated e-mails from the phpBB forum software.

Your password is ciphered (a one-way hash) so that it is secure. However, it is recommended that you do not reuse the same password across a number of different websites. Your password is the means of accessing your account at fiso.co.uk, so please guard it carefully and under no circumstance will anyone affiliated with fiso.co.uk, phpBB or another 3rd party, legitimately ask you for your password. Should you forget your password for your account, you can use the “I forgot my password” feature provided by the phpBB software. This process will ask you to submit your user name and your e-mail, then the phpBB software will generate a new password to reclaim your account.

Registration for FISO's Forum

Should you register for FISO's Forums (you need to be over 16 to do so) then there are certain terms that you will need to agree to before you can register. An excerpt from the terms are as follows (please especially note the sentences in bold):

'You agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-orientated or any other material that may violate any laws be it of your country, the country where "FISO" is hosted or International Law. Doing so may lead to you being immediately and permanently banned, with notification of your Internet Service Provider if deemed required by us. The IP address of all posts are recorded to aid in enforcing these conditions. You agree that "FISO" have the right to remove, edit, move or close any topic at any time should we see fit. As a user you agree to any information you have entered to being stored in a database. While this information will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent, neither "FISO" nor phpBB (the designers of the forum software) shall be held responsible for any hacking attempt that may lead to the data being compromised'.

Information Automatically Logged

As indicated above, when registering for FISO's Forums, or Posting on FISO's forums, your IP address is automatically logged as part of the information relating to your username. We use the IP addresses to help monitor and moderate the forums to ensure the terms and conditions of use of the forums are kept to.

Newsletter Email List

When registering for FISO you are also given the option by email of subscribing to a fiso newsletter list in regard to activities and news related to this website and community in case we start running one again. If you do choose to subscribe you can subsequently opt out of that newsletter list via the unsubscribe link contained at the end of each newsletter email. The only information that you are required to enter for the newsletter list is your email address.

Forum Posting

If you use FISO's forums, you should be aware that any personally identifiable information you submit there can be read, collected, or used by other visitors to these forums. We are not responsible for the personally identifiable information you choose to submit in these forums.

Cookies

The software used for our forums, phpBB, creates a number of cookies, which are small text files that are downloaded on to your computer’s web browser temporary files. The first two cookies just contain a user identifier (hereinafter “user-id”) and an anonymous session identifier (hereinafter “session-id”), automatically assigned to you by the phpBB software. A third cookie will be created once you have browsed forum topics and is used to store which topics have been read, thereby improving your user experience. You may refuse to accept cookies by activating the setting on your browser which allows you to refuse the setting of cookies. However, if you select this setting you may be unable to navigate around the fiso.co.uk website and may be unable to benefit from certain features.

Advertisers

FISO uses outside ad companies to display ads on fiso.co.uk. These ads may contain cookies and under the GDPR from 25 May 2018 a Consent Management Platform will ask for your consent before showing personalised ads using cookies.
