Manchester United will be without midfield ace Paul Pogba for the derby clash with City at Old Trafford next weekend after he was sent off in the 3-1 win at Arsenal.
Pogba was shown a straight red card 16 minutes from time at the Emirates Stadium, as his mistimed tackle saw him end up stamping on the leg of Gunners defender Hector Bellerin.
A three-match suspension is certain to follow, meaning that Pogba will have to sit out the crunch clash with the Citizens next weekend, having only recently returned to the United side after injury.
Boss Jose Mourinho was left a little disappointed in the decision to dismiss Pogba, telling MUTV: “I just know Paul is frustrated and a bit disappointed with his colleague Laurent Koscielny for his reaction. Everybody knows he is a clean player and it was not his intention, not at all, to be close to a red card.”
United are 23/10 to defeat Premier League leaders City next Sunday and are 11/1 to claim a 1-0 victory on home turf, with the Red Devils 10/1 to be crowned champions come the end of the season.
Meanwhile, Mourinho also heaped praised on goalkeeper David de Gea after he made a string of superb saves to ensure that the Red Devils left the capital with all three points.
The Portuguese added: “I told him after the match that what I saw today was the best goalkeeper in the world. You need the goalkeeper to be there for you when the team needs him.”
United are back in action on Tuesday evening when they play host to CSKA Moscow in the Champions League.
