Just like in the past few weeks, fantasy managers have European football to take into account for their FPL preparations this week. And not just Champions League or Europa League either, but the Conference League as well as all are played in the build-up to Gameweek 7. And all of that with a Friday deadline as well.
We are writing this FPL Gameweek 7 preview on Thursday afternoon, which means that this week’s Champions League action is already behind us. The results for the Premier League sides are as following:
| HOME TEAM | AWAY TEAM | SCORE | DATE |
| Bodoe/Glimt | Spurs | 2-2 | TUE September 30th |
| Chelsea | Benfica | 1-0 | TUE September 30th |
| Galatasaray | Liverpool | 1-0 | TUE September 30th |
| Union St Gilloise | Newcastle | 0-4 | WED October 1st |
| AS Monaco | Manchester City | 2-2 | WED October 1st |
| Arsenal | Olympiacos | 2-0 | WED October 1st |
In terms of Europa League and Conference League, the following games will be played tonight. Each of the three teams below has a Sunday game in Gameweek 7 though, so they all have at least 36 hours of rest between their European and domestic obligations this week.
| HOME TEAM | AWAY TEAM | DATE | COMPETITION |
| Feyenoord | Aston Villa | THU October 2nd | Europa League |
| Nottingham Forest | FC Midtjylland | THU October 2nd | Europa League |
| Dynamo Kiev | Crystal Palace | THU October 2nd | Conference League |
Don’t forget, the deadline for Gameweek 6 is set at 18h30 (UK time) on Friday, October 3rd, 2025. The free to play FPL or pay to play season/weekend/daily games like FanTeam are ideal ways of following the Premier League action.

Premium pick
Manchester City are playing an away game in Gameweek 7, which is never ideal, but their striker is currently on fire. In six league starts so far, Erling Haaland (£14.4m) has recorded no less than 8 goals plus 1 assist for a total of 62 FPL points. That is considerably more than any other player in the official fantasy game at this moment. On top of that, the Norwegian has also scored 3 goals in two Champions League games already, including a brace away at AS Monaco on Wednesday. That makes for a total of 11 goals and 1 assist in just eight games overall so far this season. And we know that Man City have an away game this weekend and, as said, an away game is never ideal, but it should be noted that they are visiting Brentford. The Bees have had a decent start to their 2025 – 2026 campaign, taking 7 points from their first six league games. Over that run, they also conceded 11 goals though, a total only surpassed by the current bottom-three clubs (Burnley, West Ham and Wolves). In other words, it looks like a nice match-up for a Haaland on fire, especially when you consider that Manchester City host Everton in Gameweek 8.
Non-premium pick
We agree that £9.0m is really towards the top end of the non-premium category, but with a £10m threshold, it still qualifies. That is why we are including Viktor Gyökeres (£9.0m) as we eye Arsenal’s upcoming home encounter with West Ham. Where the Gunners have had a decent start to the season with 13 points from the first six games, just two behind leaders Liverpool, the Hammers could hardly have done worse. They have taken just 4 points from the first six league games, conceding 14 goals in the process. That’s more than any other team in the league. Gyökeres has not gotten off to an explosive start in North London, but he did already register 3 goals: 2 in GW2 at home against Leeds and 1 at home against Forest in GW4. And more importantly, we feel like this coming Saturday will be the perfect opportunity for him to add one or two more. Add to that the fact that Arsenal have a nice run of fixtures coming up after West Ham at home (Fulham away, Palace home, Burnley away and Sunderland away), and this might just be the right moment to bring Gyökeres into your squad.
The budget enabler
While we were aware of him since Gameweek 1, in which he played 37 minutes and got an assist, it is true that Omar Alderete (£4.1m) of Sunderland only truly appeared on our budget radar since last weekend. Or better said, his winning goal at Nottingham Forest (0-1) made us check out the Paraguayan again and we were pleasantly surprised with what we found:
- GW1 (West Ham home): 1 assist, 4 FPL points.
- GW2 (Burnley away): 1 FPL point.
- GW3 (Brentford home): 4 FPL points (defensive contributions).
- GW4 (Palace away): clean sheet, 9 FPL points.
- GW5 (Villa home): 4 FPL points (defensive contributions).
- GW6 (Forest away): clean sheet, 1 goal, 17 FPL points.
Those are simply excellent returns from a central defender who is nailed-on and costs just £4.1m at the moment of writing. It should be noted that the Black Cats are visiting Old Trafford on Saturday, though it is hardly the fortress it once was, but after that it’s Wolves at home for Sunderland, followed by Chelsea away and then Everton at home. For a fifth defender in your squad, you could do a lot worse than Alderete. A lot.
The differential
One player who has rather quietly been returning on a consistent basis of late is Yankuba Minteh (£5.9, 2.4% owned). The Gambia international has started every league game of the 2025 – 2026 campaign so far and it looks like he recently really started getting into his groove. After not registering a single attacking return in the first three Gameweeks, Minteh now sits on 1 goal and 2 assists from his last three games: 1 assist away at Bournemouth, 1 goal at home to Spurs and 1 assist last weekend at Stamford Bridge. As far as we are concerned, that makes him stand-out fantasy differential pick material with Brighton getting ready to visit Wolves on Sunday afternoon. We previously mentioned how badly West Ham started the season, but there is one team that has gotten to an even worse start. You guessed it, that team is Wolves. They have taken just a single point from their first six league outings, last weekend away at Spurs (1-1), and they have already conceded 13 goals. Brighton, on the other hand, are coming into this game full of confidence after booking their second victory of the season last weekend against none other than Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Putting all this together, we are hoping for a cheeky attacking return (which would be his fourth consecutive return) from Minteh as the Seagulls comfortably dispatch of Wolves this weekend.
The (vice-)captaincy
Our captain for Gameweek 7 is Erling Haaland. The Norwegian is in scorching hot form and about to face a less than sturdy defence, to put it mildly. Brentford are better at home than they are on the road, that’s true, but we don’t see them stopping off Haaland on Sunday.
There are a few excellent alternatives for the Man City striker though, and we particularly like Viktor Gyökeres for Arsenal’s home game against West Ham. Considering the Swede’s performances so far it’s a bit of a punt, but it looks like a dream match-up for him. Other options to consider for the armband are Bournemouth Antoine Semenyo at home to Fulham on Friday night and the previously mentioned Yankuba Minteh for Brighton’s visit to Wolves.
