EVERTON FC’S bid to sign Dutch international international Leroy Fer is hanging in the balance after an injury revealed during the midfielder’s medical forced talks with FC Twente to stall.

If you sign this guy does this mean that the big haired one is on the way out then?

dont think so (thats not to say he wont go)

this guy will add to CM where we are short because gibson is struggling to play 3 consecutive games and our other DMs well.......

Moyes likes to use felli as 2nd striker at mo...even though he says he is a def m/f
gibson cant string more than 5 games together
hitz is on short term contract
neville...his legs went about 13 years ago

again a bit like suarez if someone comes in with enough cash Felli will be off even if he doesnt want to becasue the club will be forced to accept it

Disapponting, but we're not really in any position to take a gamble on another potential crock. Having moved on one in Rodwell, doesn't make sense to bring another in!

I imagine Ofoe will come back on the radar now. I'd love us to go in for Mulumbu...

Thought we were pretty dreaful tonight in the 1st half, and going in at HT 2-0 up flattered us a bit (not that West Brom offered anything). Rather than crumble at 2-1 though, Heitinga's gaff actually seemed to wake us up and we started to play some decent stuff, and should really have put the game to bed. A day that started on a bit of a downer got much better with the 3 points and Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool all dropping points!

On the way to the match I heard TalkSport reporter Graham Beecroft (a man you'd hope had decent connections at Everton) mention we were still pursuing an attacking(!) midfielder and a striker.

In talks with Seville re. Alvaro Negredo according to McNulty.

It's gonna be another nail biting deadline day on the blue half of Merseyside!!

So 3-3 with Villa ultimately given we were 3-1 down happy with the point......however as ive just posted what the hell is going on with Heitinga

I thought he was just lacking a run of games in the team...however yesterday was the culmination of a string of awful performances from him, his individual mistakes is costing us dearly......even in games we have won e.g. wba it means there is no chance to take the foot off the pedal etc and with our small squad that will hurt.........

as much as it pains me to say we have to get Neville in at RB (or even the young lad Stones) to get Jags and Distin in the centre again...

so what has happened to our player of season 2011/12?

Perhaps a move to Turkey in the summer which did not come off when Everton changed the asking price from 3million to 7million I guess.

At least he's acknowledged he's out of form and apologised to Everton followers via his Twitter account yesterday. Maybe just needs a spell out the side for him to regain his hunger to succeed.

This summer he will only have a year left on his contract anyway,so Everton will sell him rather than let go on a Bosman.

Central defence does look a problem for Everton now with aging players however Sheff Utd have Harry Maguire who looks a natural Everton defenderto me.

We have given Distin another year and have Duffy coming through, obviously have Jags who has imo proved me wrong and played very well this year...plus the lad Stones is meant to be a RB come CB so maybe cover there (I have no idea how good he is or isnt?)

to be fair Heitinga is only playing because Hibbert and Coleman are both injured.....none the less doesnt detract from the fact hes playing like a sunday league player!

I think what frustrates some fans is playing a centre half in Jags out of position while we have a right-back in Neville playing in midfield on Wednesday, and benched yesterday. I can only presume Moyes was terrified of putting Neviile up against Agbonlahor yesterday....

I still rate Heitinga, has looked a very good player for Everton in the past, but sometimes mental issues on the playing field and outside concerns can change players overnight.

Jags used to be a Sheff Utd player so Harry Magurie would be a good youngster to learn from him.

Any clues as to what Moyes will do with the defence tonight and then in the league?

I am assuming Baines will always play LB (unless dead) and Jagielka and Distin are first choice at CB but...

- What about RB - Is Coleman (a 'midfielder' in TFF) now back as first choice?
- Neville, now back to being a reserve, due a cup run out??
- Heitinga, accident not waiting to happen if he is benched?, risked in a cup run out????

I'm out tonight so won't see team news....

Sorry for a (very) late response, just haven't been around.....I think the place is Coleman's now that he is back fit, and it's his to lose. Current and early season form goes in his favour, and Moyes will no doubt look to rekindle his relationship with Miralles, as it was an ingredient to our better, early season performances. No sign of Hibbert coming back in the immediate future, and I think the days of Neville being able to play back-to-back games (particularly 2 games in a week) are over (hurray!!).

Can only see an injury crisis as the reason for Heitinga to get a run out.

Ta, that's pretty much what I guessed. He avoided the urge to tinker last night, other than leaving out the 'injured' Screech (allegedly back on saturday).

Nice to get that winning feeling back, not just to keep up with the chasing pack in the league, but to go into our quarter-final next weekend.

Some positives from the Reading game:

Mirallas - Getting fitter and looking more like the player we saw at the start of the season
Pienaar - Probably his best game for a while. When he plays well, Everton play well.
Heitinga - He didn't screw up/get bullied.
Coleman - He may have got stick for costly mistakes earlier in the season, but christ he has been missed! One of the few players to emerge from the Norwich game with any credit, and another good game yesterday. Great run and cross for the opening goal.

The negatives:

Jagielka's injury - Looked nasty, will probably keep him out for a couple of weeks at best. This will no doubt mean the scary thought of Heitinga up against Kone in the cup. Not a happy memory for Johnny....
Howard/Mucha - Howard has had a poor season, but now I understand why Moyes has been so reluctant to drop him. Mucha makes every save look difficult. Even his kicking is poor. Mucha and Heitinga to get us into the semis?? *gulp* Hopefully Howard returns for the weekend.
Gibson - Needs an operation (oh joy!), but Moyes is hoping he can put if off until the summer. He is going to breakdown in a game eventually, isn't he? :?

Kind of reminds me of our run to the final in 2009, where we were robbed of Jagielka, Arteta and Yakubu as the season went on.

Jelavic - Worked hard yesterday, but got nowt to show for it. Again. As pointed out on another forum, his performances make it look like an Everton fan has won a competition and been given the chance to play upfront for us....

Aaaaaah BOLLOCKS!

http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/sport/foo ... 709146.ece" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Everton’s dual hopes of winning the FA Cup and challenging for a European place via the Barclays Premier League have suffered a setback after it emerged that Tim Howard has broken two bones in his back.

Howard will miss today’s sixth-round FA Cup tie against Wigan Athletic and is unlikely to be available for the next month after the extent of his injury was discovered. His absence means that Jan Mucha, who has made only eight appearances — seven of them in the League Cup— for Everton since joining from Legia Warsaw three years ago, will take over in goal.
