agree Herc - as syndicates go it's not been a great success!
There's £25000 up for grabs for Cheltenham and hardly anyone has remembered entering their bonuses, despite being posted here in the run up. Those that did put in Quevega - a horse who is not in a bonus race at the Festival and likely to go off odds on therefore not eligible for decent points based on starting price either, even though this was pointed out in the lead up to the bonus winow too.
Still it's only a bit of fun :)

I stuck Quevega in one line but do have all the bonus races covered in that line, didn't want to bet against myself as such, think quite a few people may have stuck K Star in, althrough I haven't got him would like to see him run

Fiso TTF Jumps syndicate

Post by SamD »

Yes, our syndicate has struggled this season. Nonetheless, eight of the current top ten in the Fiso league did remember to add their bonus pair last week.

The leading dozen in the February monthly race seem less inspired, however, with seven foregoing the opportunity to use their bonus.

Perhaps managers miss pa's fraternal encouragement? Besides highlighting the bonus window period in this thread, maybe I (or someone else) could have sent a PM reminder to syndicate members.

Sam, to be fair you did your bit to remind everyone.
I think people just lost interest - perhaps a PM would have been a good idea but that was not your responsibility.
Perhaps if we try again then we should appoint a syndicate leader who would be responsible for such things. We also need to consider whether we are a syndicate or just a group of people who are prepared to split any winnings. There was no real strategy or coverage planned during initial selection nor during the bonus window.
Still there's still hope - perhaps one of us can luck out during Cheltenham and nail the prize.

I have been thinking about this and here are my thoughts:

I think that teams that have not made transfers should forfeit any prizes won at Cheltenham. unless a prize is won by the original ten horses entered.

Others people's thoughts?

Best wait to the slim chance of a prize actually won rather than stirring up a hornet's nest. Obviously Pa exempt from this discussion so his family entitled to no reduction at all in any unlikely winnings and considering this it could quite rightly be construed as bad taste.

Yes, PA would be exempt. Infact, if we won I would like us to make a donation to his family.

I understand the feeling of disappointment some will have that not everyone remembered/bothered to make transfers, but I don't see how that gives anyone the right to decide that certain prizes are exempt from the original syndicate agreement?

In fact, the mere suggestion of it stinks.

Fair enough Hotpot but the fact you forgot to enter your extras quite frankly stinks.

I think it can be considered a novice mistake and I even made it once after the distraction of a rare visit to a music festival and was avidly looking at the results of my intended transfers. So they paid their £20 per entry same as any other so a novice mistake shouldn't make any difference.

I made my changes but don't agree you can change the rules now Ashers.
Pa's original post on prize money read 'By entering your 2 stables into the Mini League you are agreeing to share any prize money that may be won equally between all members of the League.'

Everyone in the syndicate has obeyed that rule so we would have to split the money equally imo.

As pennance for my forgetfulness I'm happy to take responsibility for reminder PMs for future comps. TTF is great fun and even better if run as a syndicate to keep interest going.

Let's not be too harsh on those that forgot. That bonus window isn't open for very long, and especially so if you're waiting for the end of the week and the most up-to-date info. Many of us have participated fully before and the last thing we would have wanted to do was let others down.

Anyway, no-one will be permitted to forget in future.... expect to be stalked until your entries are in!

Nil Points from either Zarkandar or the Fly.

Looks like Binocular and Fly sat too far off the pace

If Pa is still looking down on the world of horse racing, he'd have a smile on his face tonight. Not only did his favourite Starluck which he was always banging on about win for only the second time in just under four years, (his other victory was in a conditionals). But he stormed up the Cheltenham hill to snatch victory close home by a nose.
