2011 Fantasy World Snooker - Now Underway

Post by Shaggy365 »

Greetings fellow FISO-ers.

Back again for a fourth year. It's that time of year again when the qualifying has taken place and the draw has been made. I'm pleased to announce the annual running of the 2011 Fantasy World Snooker Championship Competition.

Usual rules. Website

Entry by email (details on website) or pm, but I will need your proper name, since the competition is open to non-FISO-ers (as if there is anyone in the country who isn't a FISO member).

Let battle commence.

Clean forgot about it myself, but it was mentioned on the radio on the way home tonight, so I invested 25 minutes of my time & set it up (again).

Forgot to say, it all kicks off on 16th April, so entries in by 8:00 am (BST) on 16th April.

Good luck one and all.

I guess we'll see when it's all over on the 2nd May.

If you're questioning the values against the players, they were worked out from the current world ranking points.

8-)

Would be good to get 32 (or as close as possible) so that the FISO tournament mirrors the real thing.

Shaggy, can you copy and paste last years results ? We could then use the finishing order as seedings.

I see Ronnie has lost to Ryan Day in the first round of the China Open. He's now down to No 10 in the rankings, and says he may retire. I can't see him retiring just before the World Championship, but his mind is obviously not on it at the moment, and I suppose anything he does wouldn't be a surprise. :o

What I should have said as well is that if any player withdraws from the tournament (for whatever reason), I will get in touch with those entrants that have selected that player and give them an opportunity to change their entry. Anyone who doesn't respond to my email will have the next highest value player substituted, so that their entry is still valid.

You don't need a pin. There's only 471,055 different possible entries. One of those will be the best. You just need to decide which one it will be.

OK, you need a pin.

I see Judd Trump has won the Chinese Open link, the last tournament before the World Championships starts in 2 weeks time.

Will he be a good bet for the World Championships? Past history suggests that the previous winner of the Chinese Open gets a higher than average pick in my competitions, but he may not necessarily perform.

I think the shorter match format at these other events mean form players can be knocked out earlier than they should and would in the longer matches at the crucible?

I've got 7 different combinations already for this game, I'm really looking forward to it. Anyone with flu, shingles, mumps or any other minor ailment that can last up to 3 weeks - please sneeze in an envelope and send to me before 16/4. :D

My highest break in snooker is 7.

Importantly, Snwcer is my favourite Welsh word - narrowly beating; Fideo, Lifft and Ambiwlans.

It is scientifically impossible to say Snwcer without a Welsh accent.

Over the past few years, the maximum possible score (ignoring values) has been achievable by sticking to the budget. Perhaps I should just ignore player values and you can pick whoever you want.

Maybe next year. Too many entries now to start getting back in touch with people.

There can only be 1 winner.

... and also you can only select 6 players. Surely that limits your selection to a maximum of 6.
