Shortbreads are lovely but lose out because they are more of a treat / cake type thing and Digestives are classic examples of proper biscuits.

This is the final that no one wanted :(

These 2 aren't even world class

Chocolate (dark) and ginger being the pick ahead of the choccy hobnob.

As for shortbread

I will have to abstain from voting as my vote would have to be Hob Nobs and I can't bring myself to vote for anything else to win!

HOBNOBS ARE THE DADDY OF ALL BISCUITS! :P

Haven't been following this comp since the early stages but how on earth has shortbread got to the final?!

I can only assume they had a favourable draw and a few lucky results along the way.

A non-chocolate based finalist has to be the biscuit equivalent of Saudi Arabia reaching the World Cup final...

Well they didn't turn up, had a couple of key players suspended, and the less said about the penalties the better!

I pick shortbread because I don't really eat many biscuits, and therefore would rather a treat. In saying that, this is a crappy final.

Final score:

BISCUIT WORLD CUP FINAL RESULT

Hobnobs 11-10 Scottish Shortbread

(Shortbread only made the final after a mind-numbing penalty shoot-out against McVities Homewheat Plain Choc)

And now they want a Crisp World Cup...! (things aren't going too well on the field at Leek Town this season, so this comes as a welcome distraction)

By the way, just had a look back through this World Cup, and yer old da's suspicions have been confirmed as at no point is this biscuit included. :?

There is one biscuit that is unrivalled, that is everyone's favourite, and would undoubtedly have won the trophy had all you geezers down south tried it. I could pretty much guarantee that my fellow Scots would agree with me on this. The winner of the Biscuit World Cup would've been a one-horse race had this little rascal been considered.

Step forward..............

..........the Tunnock's Caramel Wafer. 8-)

I rate Tunnock's Caramel Wafer highly, YODa. Very highly indeed.
But when push comes to shove, the chocolate flavoured covering lets them down, imo.

Now, if they were covered with Cadbury's ......

I agree that the only failing of TCW's is the fake chocolate coating, but they are still special. If they were covered in Cadbury's I imagine it would improve them of course, but would it change their appeal?

I know what you mean, Da, they are one of the few companies who still carry that 'family business' feel. And I like the fact that they've resisted the urge to re-package the product. To the best of my knowledge they still look the same on the shelves as they did 40 years ago.
But World Cup challengers ......? Mebee not.
Old Firm? Yes!

I think they could definitely get to the latter stages of the World Cup, if everyone on here had tried them and given them time.

Yeah, packaging is definitely the same, and where I'm from you almost certainly know someone who works or used to work in the Tunnock's factory in Uddingston. (there, I've narrowed down your search area  )

Ah! The veil is lifted and all becomes clear! 8-)
By chance, my real Old Da lived at Overtown prior to his death. He restored a wee orchard at Pathead, just above the river. If you ever take a stroll that way nick an apple for me! :)

Ever visited this site? Maybe hb is on there already?
