Poker Tracker III

Post by djnuttie »

I've just downloaded PT3  I've been thinking about doing it for about 16 months and now I'm starting a 60 day FREE trial period

So I've decided I'm going to post all my PT3 Questions in here for our experts to help me get it up and running and if they can't help maybe Mike_ can point me in the right direction

So its downloaded and it looks like its working on Stars at the moment.

Q1. Each time I'm going to play do I have to open up PT3 first, click on Auto import, then register tourneys and play?

My HUD looks like this -

Image

Mike_ -

Q2. Do you have the same stuff on permanent display (the HUD stuff)?

Q3. Is there somewhere which will give an indication of what each figure represents, I understand what VP means but what is considered loose/tight/nitty etc. Is there a thread on 2+2?

Q4. The stuff in the black box do you pay any special attention to any of these in particular?

And finally for now

Q5. I just got a warning that the maximum number of observed hands has been reached and no more hands will be loaded into PT3 until I restart. Is this just because I wasn't sat at the table that I was watching?

Cheers :D

1 No , just click on your PT3 icon on your desktop and your HUD should appear after the first hand is completed.

2. There's about 20 different fields you can choose from. Just play around with it until you find the ones you like.

VPIP and PFR are musts. Voluntarily put into pot and Pre Flop Raise.

Aggression factor ,. I dont use personally . I use Fold to 3-bet instead

I can only answer Q5 - yes, it's because you are just watching - it happened to me while I was stalking you  When you play, then the figures stay up all the time.

I do have a Q6 though - I found that my stats didn't register those rare occasions when I actually won something, so my ROI looks a bit sicker even than it is.

Oh and a Q7 - I found that the figures sometimes float in an inconvenient place (i.e. where my cards are). Is there a way to modify this?

Q7 You can right click and drag the HUD until you find a place you want to store them permanently. Then at the top in the middle of the screen there's a little PT3 box , click on that and hit Store settings or something like that and it'll stay there permanently.

Q4 . Where you start your MTT all the stats will be at 0. After about 50 hands , assuming you last that long  , check out your VPIP and PFR then look at the others round the table. you'll see some less than 10 and some over 50 . You're VPIP will be around 20 maybe :? You can now adjust your play accordingly

Same for PFR - the % of times the player raises.

Q6 revised - I found that my stats didn't register those rare occasions when I actually won something, so my ROI looks a bit sicker even than it is. Is there something I have to do to connect so that PT3 actually registers my winnings as well as my losses?

I'll tell you one of the grooviest features.

Log onto Stars and request the maximum number of tournament summaries you can .

Wait for the email to arrive

Cut & paste that email into a notepad file

Save the email as Summaries.txt or something but change the bottom field Encoding ANSI to Encoding Unicode.

PT3 > Manual import. Import file from computer or something like that.

The txt should import itself.

Hit refresh and then click graph

Good luck with it all

DJN: check out this thread from 2+2 to get started on the PT stats. Its based on PT2 so the menus/buttons may be different but you'll get the idea.

Where did you get the 60 day trial?

To download on a free trial I followed a link from the 2+2 Pokertracker forum (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/114/pokertracker/). There are adverts all over that link. Looking at it though I think if you go straight to http://www.pokertracker.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; you'll get the same free trial.

A starters guide to 2+2 Hmmmmmm.

I remember when I first started using it , I learnt from a post by someone called Excession at the bet-the-pot forum. I cant find the forum or the post - if you can google and find that , you're laughing.

Failing that , I'm sure there's loads at 2+2 .

I think the common opinion on the forums is that :

Holdem Manager is a better product than Pokertracker3 at the moment, but in time Pokertracker3 will overtake it after all the planned upgrades are made.

Holdem Manager has a trial period too but only for about 14 days I think - so try them both before parting with your money.

FWIW its worth , I'll be buying PT3 when my free trial expires.
