Love the idea of the cast of Glee covering “The Len Ganley Stance”

This time last year.... murf wrote:OK, looking for HMHB place references for my FF team names.

Probably need 20 on an A-Z basis (A-T?)

Ambleside
Bridgwater
Chatteris
Dead Sea
Ely
etc
Bit late but I'm doing something similar again this season. Won't need 20 yet as playing with less teams but will do more divisionals/weeklies/monthlies so will need 20+ in time.

Just going with HMHB 'objects':

Asparagus
Bobby or Biro or BlueBadge or Bad Wools
CS Gas or (Crimond)
D
Ecohouse
F
G
Hi-Vis

Pashley
Subbuteo or Sanderling

Think I am limited to 9 letters (after "murf's mob " taking up 11 of 20) so can't do Euphemisms or Yahoo Chess.

As you can see I haven't got very far and, ahem, clearly need help.

I think I need to listen to Stiperstones and 24hr Garage People for inspiration or just use the Referee's Alphabet.

JDOG (probably can't fit Jogproof iPod)

The big question is whether you'll go with T for Toxteth, Tennessee, or Thatcher.

My 10 TFF team names are all 90 Bisodol (Crimond) based, namely:

The Raging Ostler
Pop Tart Mark
Iguana Andy
Top Top Players
Belgian Cleanup Team
Crazy Razor Headlock
Back-to-Back Cadfael
Brick Jim Beglin up
Gok Wan Acolytes
&
Future Doom

At least i've got some enjoyment out of the game this year.

P could be iffy

PragVec or Paintball or Pashley (or even PhilCool! but not using Players or Poptarts!)

Still need N and O before I get much further.

PS getting back to the music..... what are the opinions on 90 Bisodol after living with it fow a few months? I still think it is a cracker, on a par with CSI.

A few N's for consideration.

Nerys
Numanoid
(Kendo) Nagasaki (towpath)

Only O i can come up with is Oban. I like "Operation less pricks" but probably a bit long and may not be deemed suitable.

Having played 90 Bisodol to death, I agree that it is up their with the best of them. There isn't a track I skip, which is always a good sign.

Have to say I'm disappointed with 90B compared with recent efforts. There are no absolute duffers but it doesn't hit the heights either. There is no equivalent of one of the masterpieces from CSI, "Took Problem Chimp" or "National Shite Day" say.

It feels a bit rushed and dashed off musically IMO. I prefer them to make their own tunes and put a bit of welly into it, rather than fall back on old standards or go for the easy piss-take of a musical style. On 90B the former are uninspired and there's a bit too much of the latter. The lyrics are good but not quite CSI standard and the whole package is not quite there.

6/10 for me compared to the 9/10 for the last one (probably their best IMO) and 8/10 for Achtung Bono.

Got to disagree.

Still love the album and the heights are probably Stiperstones and Bad Wools (the nearest to a National Shite Day moment).

One or two did actually sound better on the Radio 6 session (e.g. RSVP)

I would reverse the ratings I think 90B is a 8/10 and CSI a bit hit and miss at 6/10

Excavating Rita and Tommy Walsh and Fun Day in the park are up there with the best.

Joy In Leeuwarden is a bit weak IMO.

I love that track! Could add it to my list of highs!

In many ways it is their most consistent album ever. I wouldn't call CSI 'hit and miss' either !

I think there are some crackers: Chimps, Yahoo Chess, NS Day, but not so keen on Lord Hereford's knob, Blue badge abuser or on the 'roids - heck but that's like, just my opinion, man.

On CSI, I'll give you "Ode to Joyce" as weak and "On The Roids" is perhaps average but otherwise I'll defend everything on there to the hilt! "Bubblewrap" is another of the classics on there.

90B may be consistent but it's consistently average, for me anyways. Everyone's mileage varies. :)

Stiperstones is my highlight but it sounds a bit under-produced maybe? Interesting comment that they sounded better on the 6 Music session; I felt the overall production on 90B is below par. It lacks a bit of punch.
