I hesitate to ask,as I believe you've access to the selling prices sligorover, from your WC exercise,but are you sure we can afford Rooney at 12.2 when we've only 0.3 cash available ? I guessed we'd only get about 11.6 for Drogba ?

You are nearly right, grob, we can sell Drogba for 11.7 only, so can't afford Rooney.

Thanks for confirming this Flyman - it would be a shame if votes were cast for an ineligible player.

VIDUKA(at home to Fulham,in form,and playing for a new contract ?)@7.5 is also worthy of consideration I think,for DROGBA if we are all sure that he won't play on Saturday ?

I was tempted to suggest a double with the resultant spare cash being used to upgrade MOKOENA(4.3) to BENTLEY(6.7)but can't quite convince myself that's worth a 4pt hit.

Am I correct in thinking that Carragher, Lampard, Ronaldo and Drogba are all potentials for resting?

I wonder, unless someone can put my mind to rest, whether we shouldn't just do one last double to ensure we field 11?

Drogba -> Viduka
Lucketti -> Arbeloa
(slight risk of rota-ing, but worth it, imo).

EDIT: Rescinded as Drogba now fit.

Flyman,I've not yet seen the latest team news,which may be delayed with the next EPL games being on Sunday, for which reason I suggest the poll be set up on Friday night,to close on Sunday a.m,as all k/o's are at 3pm ?

At least that way,we'll have a better chance of knowing if DROGBA's fit to play,albeit what Mr M will do about resting players ahead of the FAC Final is sheer guesswork at this stage.
However, if he's fit,I would expect DROGBA to play,and LAMPARD also,as EVERTON are not exactly pushovers,and Shevy,Carvalho & Ballack are missing.

RONALDO I think is likely to play,based on the promise SAF has made - that in fairness to the others involved in the relegation dogfight,he intends to field a full strength side against WHM.

My hunch is that Rafa will also field a strong team against Charlton,even though there's a case not to risk key players being injured ahead of the CL final,but as that's not until 23 May,I suspect he'll want to give his men match practice,with enough time to rest them ahead of the CL Final.

drogba

Post by grob »

So,Drogba's fit to play tomorrow,after all ! and needs only 1 more goal for 20 in the league this season - according to Chelsea Tv website,quoted by ADmin in the TEAM NEWS FORUM(DROGBA thread).

Pity he's facing a strong Everton defence rather than one of the weaker ones,but probably worth keeping now ?

Maybe anyone still around who proposed a DROGBA> transfer might wish to reconsider,as I'm sure that Flyman's not set up the poll yet, not because he forgot to do so,but to allow time for exactly this sort of team news to filter through.

I've only just seen this news myself,so haven't given any thought yet to other possible transfer proposals.Opinions seem divided as to whether CARRAGHER will play - Mr Pink says not,but the Guardian have him in their team sheet,along with LAMPARD(and Bridge looks a certainty now) for Chelsea

However,SAF has confused us(me anyway)by first saying he's putting out a full strength team v WHM but since hinting that one or both of RONALDO & ROONEY will be benched,and the Guardian have them both on the bench to start - my GUESS is that they'll play half a game each(assuming the game goes MU's way)

grob: Do you retract your Drogba nomination in the light of your latest news?

I'm going to make a late proposal .....

Sun 3.6 -> Davies, 3.9 (MI) [(h) v FU]

This will re-inforce our bench with a possible c.s-er, in case Carragher is rested.
Sun may not get us 1, let alone 2.

Can't really wait much longer - I'll do the poll in 1/2 an hour.

Edit: Sp. & Numptyism in the extreme! :oops:

Do you mean Davis (SU) Flyman?

I can't see Carragher not playing tomorrow. He had a rest last week and Rafa will not want his best team going into the CL final not having played for three weeks.

Yes,I retract my DROGBA>VIDUKA proposal,which I suspect most of the others proposing DROGBA> out would do if they were around,which few are I suppose,'cos there's no footie this afternoon. FPL are still showing DROGBA as redflagged,which probably means that IF he scores big points tomorrow,not so many will still have him !
I'm having a big problem deciding what to do about my own team this week -more so than any week this season, partly because of the uncertainties of SAF/RAFA team selection,but also due to the fact that we're only picking a team for 1 week this time.
I'm tempted to go for FOWLER & OWEN,but probably won't !

For the benefit of those not around this afternoon who haven't caught up with the news yet,perhaps you should include a "No change" option in the poll ?

With no disrespect to Sun & Lucketti,the only doubts regarding availability of the key members in our team seem to be CARRA,RONALDO & ADEBAYOR,with only ADEBAYOR being an injury doubt(groin problem).
Even if he plays,will he be firing on all cylinders against a Portsmouth side needing a win to stay with a chance of a UEFA place,I wonder ?

Thus,I propose,as a form of insurance,ADEBAYOR>VIDUKA

Edit: Sp.
As you've confirmed it's the Davies of Middlesbrough you meant,they're playing FULHAM not WIGAN,which is probably what confused REds into thinking you meant Davis of SU,who ARE playing WIGAN,though THAT Davis is likely to be no more than a sub :D

That might include me,rather than my own suggestion of Viduka - it's so much easier to take such gambles when it's not one's OWN team !
(though I may go for Fowler in my own team too - for nostalgic reasons !)
