It was the summer of 2013 and Robin van Persie was coming off the back of an elite season where he scored 262 FPL points. Because of this he was given a record £14.0m price tag for the 13/14 season. However, there was a changing of the guard in the dugout with longtime legendary manager SAF being replaced by David Moyes. van Persie would go on to have a poor 13/14 season only scoring 112 points and proving to be dismal value for money at that price tag.

Fast forward 13 years later and Haaland is given a record £15.5m price tag for the 26/27 season with legendary longtime Man City manager Pep Guardiola being replaced by Enzo Maresca in the summer of 2026. This season will show those who are willing to learn from history and those who are not if Haaland continues to underperform.

Nice try one Haaland is only 26 and still very much at his peak and will be for a few more years . Van Persie was good player but was about 30 or 31 and was bit injury prone .

I tried to get him to be a more useful Fiso member but i have decided to give up on him and i will never bother responding to any of his posts in the future .

I'd expect most FF managers who watched that banal, ponderous, tepid dirge from Citeh are wondering what they could do with the Haaland cash. (And Bruno F:s if they were daft enough to go there.)

There’s a lack of obvious reliable goalscorers at the moment. I can’t remember a time where the PL looked so thin on the ground in terms of actual strikers. Haaland’s the only active player even in the 100 goals club!

They did discuss it on MNF last night, the way the world’s elite attacking players in particular want to be in Madrid and Barcelona (and, increasingly, Paris and Munich too) rather than the more physical PL. Even the Saudi cash is tempting some in their prime. More goals, fewer injuries, better weather, in all said cases. England is becoming a case of quantity over quality.

I dont know how he got the job at City. I went Haaland and Bruno with the idea to downgrade Bruno in w3. i thought about going without Haaland but there's just too much inconsistency with the other options that there's no way i could trust players like Saka and Palmer. Maybe that changes in a few weeks as both had good starts.

Mascara isn't even Moyes

Moyes didn’t have a front three of Haaland, Cherki and Semenyo though. Fergie left Moyes an ageing team in need of major surgery and he only managed to sign Fellaini.
