Going back to Mexico ‘86, I spotted Burruchaga’s son in the French Open tennis draw recently

Nice headed goal by Kane from a good cross from Spence.

Apparently ended 1:0.

Seems at least our footballers are less embarassing than the Black Craps, miserable excuse for a cricket team that they are

Seems England used it as a training session, pretty much. Losing 4-0 to Haiti was a bit less impressive for the Kiwis.

As for the cricket, pretty much a lottery on that pitch. Just witness the ball that got Bethell out in England’s second innings.

Didn't watch the England game. Turned over to see the score and saw a replay of Kane's nice flick. Looked again later and still only 1-0 (v lowest ranked team at WC).

Saw young Rio came on and along with Kane was the only player rated over 6 on BBC website. Only 2 players half standing out were a guaranteed starter and a kid not going. Sounds like a really useful exercise for Tuchel....

Somewhat more impressive from Scotland. They’ll be going full Ally McLeod before we know it (before losing 3-0 to Haiti, no doubt).

Scotland’s first win over South American opposition for 31 years

They’d only played six matches against them in that time, mind you

Denmark v Ukraine abandoned as Christian Eriksen colapses on pitch. That brings back some horrible memories.

Danish FA have said “Christian Eriksen is conscious and feeling well according to the circumstances".

Why was he ever allowed to play again? Same goes for the Luton guy who had multiple episodes…

Saw that game was suspended and assumed it was just a thunderstorm.

I think he's banned in certain countries.

At 29 you could understand him wanting to play on and you dont really know what other skills he had to fall back on at that time.

Now though he's 34 he must have planned for this possibility so hopefully he'll take the hint and retire and move onto doing something else that doesn't put his life at risk.

It’s his family you have to think about, and someone who’s played at the level he has should be well covered financially (and with easy routes into punditry/coaching), it’s not as if he’s a League Two player. I know it must be hard to give up but given what’s at stake…

I'm sure he doesn't regret his decision to keep playing. He got to extend his career by five years, had an enjoyable sojourn at Brentford where he's still revered, got to play a season in the Bundesliga, got to play at another World Cup, and... well, yeah okay, he was also stuck at Man Utd for three seasons so maybe he does regret his decision after all.

34 isn't a bad innings for a top-level footballer these days, heart condition or no heart condition.

Tonight’s team looks like their starting XI for the first match to me.

Just been working out England’s potential paths…

Group L winners:
Last 32 - third-placed team
Last 16 - Mexico (in Mexico City…)
Last 8 - Brazil

Group L runners-up:
Last 32 - Colombia
Last 16 - Spain

Maybe we’re best off finishing third…

Where would Colombia be?

It's strange that venues aren't being included in the fixture lists.
