Team name changed due to offensive name :/

Hello FISO

I recently received the following email from FPL:

"Dear Premier League User,

Your team name was deemed offensive and was renamed to "Change Name". Please change it to something more suitable."

However, I don't think that my team name was offensive at all as I named it 'Pro sons for Ukraine'. Is FPL against Ukraine and supports Putin that they deem name like that offensive or why is that??
After they changed the name to Change Name I changed it once more to very similar name to the original one (1 word changed) and now it's been pending moderation (again) for a couple of days

I had this issue again this year, due to twit embedded in team name. Pending Moderation for team nodded through after a few days. Private league of same name rejected, trying again.

Oh yeah, your username has the Scunthorpe problem

They probably flag team names containing Ukraine as being too political. It could equally be used in a pro-Russian statement, for example.

Way too harsh stuff imo if a name containing Ukraine is automatically offensive as a result of that! And on this occasion it's not in pro-Russian statement, it doesn't even mention Russia or war, so yeah, very harsh if that's the reason.
Also mine was pending moderation for days after eventually they deemed it offensive, so didn't go as well as for Brightwater. Will see how the 2nd try with very slight change goes...

I wonder if it's more widespread this season that team names are deemed offensive? Coz in the past it's never happened to me. Maybe they have changed the algorithms or sth...

This is the world we currently live in. Only takes one person from millions to be offended or take it the wrong way, and there are calls for someone to hang.

There’s absolutely no need for politicised team names in any case, plenty of other ways to support or oppose a cause.

In this case every publicity helps as ppl forget very easily if they don't get reminded about things, especially if the issues don't directly affect them.

Anyway, in this case the name could be interpreted in different ways, Ukraine could very well mean the national football team for example, then it's not political
And if a country name in a team name is automatically offensive then perhaps other countries shouldn't be allowed in names either, especially those who are in war...

Had a draft team named "Anti drugs strikers" (actually a real club from Sierra Leone) a few seasons back which got the change name treatment. Obviously fpl are pro drugs!

Funnily enough they had no problem with "RodonDiasBurnMeeKoch" or "HoeverBurnMeeJohnson"

I had "Covid Heroes all" rejected last season, but they didn't have any problem with "Slava Ukraini" so have gone with that again for this coming season.

Update: my alternative team name 'Pro sons of Ukraine' was rejected on the opening day of the season, so I went for 'Pro sons for Ukraina' fast and voila, it did the trick, no pending or anything! Take that FPL! In a way Ukraina is better anyway as Ukraine in Ukrainian is Ukraina and in Estonian too, so I was quite satisfied with that.
