Sky seem to think de Jong could be done for £56m + add ons. If that's for real, I'll be pleasantly surprised and unexpectedly impressed.

A lot cheaper than I expected him to be tbh. Barca in such financial trouble they've forgotten to add the United tax to the deal.

So £44m for another 4 or 5 players?
Maybe Ipswich will ask for a few million to take Phil Jones

Yeh, that's sort of the worry isn't it tbh.
FdJ and Anthony are great if we get them, Eriksen would be a bonus as a free transfer and possibly a squad player (if EfH plays with 2 number 6's as I suspect he will) but we absolutely desperately need a centre half and possibly an upgrade at RB as well. Not much left in the pot to get those unless the powers that be can get money in by offloading the dead wood while continuing to service the Glazers and their debt. Something's going to have to give and we're pretty certain it wont be the latter!

Indeed to the other positions, and as before a strange place to start unless he or Beekie can play DM - or he has a cunning plan for Bruno?
Someone (I think Palace) have been linked with Pereira for £10m but I doubt the rest would get much?

Fulham have bid for Pereira.
I'd take any budget figure with a pinch of salt. They often over-spend when they finish outside the top 4.
Latest name in the frame is Feyenoord full back Malacia. Lot of chat they've agreed a fee and now up to the player.

All about Fwenkie... he seems to be a Pirlo-lite ie lacking his longer range, and might be like Bakero who played for Spain 40ish years ago (typing that made me feel very old ). He was awesome in that when Spain had the ball he was always in the TV shot and available for a pass.
The downside is that he is a DM with no pace and can't tackle but assists the assister.

Re: Manchester United Seasonal Blog 2022/23 - the Erik ten Hag era
FdJ is a ball playing CDM, a la Carrick or Xavi. Probably the single most important position for us to address tbh, but I would put centre defence as priority no. 2 over Anthony personally.
Difficult to get much for dead wood of course, but would hope we could get something for Bailly, AWB or Dalot, Williams, Tuanzebe, Pereira, Martial, Chong and maybe even Amad or Pellestri (if Anthony is coming I can't see both of these getting too many opportunities especially with Garnacho, Shoretire and Hannibal now knocking on the door). Not huge figure here but arguably enough to get a decent centre back.

The article describes him as more of a Modric, Xavi or Bakero than a Carrick as I don't remember him going that far over the halfway line as often as the 3 above.
A slight tangent: wasn't this what Jorgie boy was supposed to be at Chelsea?

If this Malacia transfer comes off I assume Telles joins Bailly, Jones, Williams and AWB in the free to leave lounge.

Looks like LB is the next purchase with €15m plus €2m add ons fee agreed with Feyenoord for Tyrell Malacia. The end for Telles or Shaw?

This is far from unbelievable, and would be a red flag for blah. I'm too cynical to fall for the "they are professional footballers and always give 100%", let alone the oft quoted 110%

Re: Manchester United Seasonal Blog 2022/23 - the Erik ten Hag era
Some odd dots bring joined up incorrectly to try and make up a story....
https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk ... a-24347356
Henderson was probably not there as he is as good as a Forest player, and for all I know was in the England squad and has an extra week off.
So yes, DdG is pretty much nailed, without the no show.
My understanding of Spain and DdG is that he is too stuck to the goal line, rather than his actual ability with the ball at his feet. Basically he has to be more dominating in a bigger area....
And yes, 10H does expect some foot ball skills.

Lots of credible rumours United have made a big bid for Martinez of Ajaz. Shopping list appears to be coming down to De Jong, Eriksen, Martinez, Malacia and a Forward....if the latter is Antony they'll all be either former Ajax players or played against them in EtH's time. Hmmmm.

Feels like it hasn't really worked out (don't blame Ronaldo for this, though) and might be beneficial for the team as a whole to (as Mike Florio would say) rip off the band-aid sooner rather than later.

I think I agree. Hard.to think of a more pointless example of forcing an unhappy player to play for one more season if that's what they tried to do.
