If you need help choosing horses that will go for the bonus races then go on oddschecker and click on ante post. All the odds are there for the bonus races at Epsom and Ascot

As Ottershaw says Oddschecker should be your first port of call. From the main horse racing pages there are two links to the two key pages of interest. Firstly the ante post page which not only covers the upcoming 3 bonus races at Epsom but also some later bonus races as far forward as July (for example Eclipse and July Cup). Secondly Royal Ascot where the prices are up for most relevant races including all the Ascot bonus races. Focus on the bonus races. For example prioritise the Jubilee over the King's Stand, and the Prince of Wales over the Hardwicke.

Hardly any need for the Tote to add that lot. A couple of decent foreign horses who won't be making too many appearance in the comp's bonus races, and the O'Brien youngster who won't be competing in many Group 1's before the substitution and in any bonus race even after that. Certainly nothing that will be appearing even on my or most other peoples' "possibilities" lists.

TTF selection options

Post by SamD »

Agreed, Striker.

The Tote will augment the initial set of horses should sufficient players ask for their own favourites. Own view is that original list should not be changed as it is bulky enough. Ten years ago, for example, the TTF Flat game was based on 250 horses, less than half the current number.

Seven Fisons have joined the mini-league for each person's free team:

I'll be adding "Free Horseshoes" later in the week when I've entered all my teams. I'll probably do somewhere between 10 and 16 paid teams which will primarily be permutations of around a dozen horses with another 6-8 appearing in just one or two "stables".

Cash is missing from the Prix du Jockey Club declarations. I can't find any info. It can't be the going and so a setback/unsatisfactory blood test etc seems likely. If so we need to beware, especially those like myself for whom he was a big pick. However I wouldn't want to take him out of my stables until we know that it wasn't some other reason such as the post Brexit Dover travel chaos.

Yup as well as the Sussex. I've taken him out of 5 of my stables and left him in just two. Only yesterday Simcock was banging on about how he is a faster horse than he originally thought and thus Paris over Epsom. He talked about going down in distance in the future. This partially destroyed my belief that the Curragh would suit him well (I had been seriously hoping that he would win the Irish Derby after his brilliant performance at Sandown, considering his obvious need for more experience, where he seemed to be suited to upping in distance). When I took him out of those 5 teams I simultaneously had a small bet on him for the Eclipse at 66s. This would provide some compensation if removing him is a poor move. It's difficult to see him beating Baaeed et al in the Sussex.

Bit late to put Concert Hall in now. Put her in some punts to take the regret off. Then I was wary of throwing to much at it to fade after a month or so. That many putting Bay Bridge in shows we have some savvy entries even thouigh he looks obvious after a quick look at odds of bonus races then form.

What are the odds of that? Ottershaw and myself seem to have IDENTICAL entries!

However its only happened 'cos I took Cash out at the last minute when he wasn't among the final declarations for the French Derby.

In one sense its not that surprising given that we have both gone for the bleedin' obvious. The most popular 9 horses plus the 12th most popular. One of my paid entries has the most popular 9 horses plus the 11th most popular.

If that can happen amongst just nine of us, I wonder how many sets of identical teams there are amongst the overall entry. Time of entry could yet decide the top prize if there are a couple of obvious substitutions come August.

With it being a late start this year I would say there will be a lot of identical entries and it will go down to some shrewd move(s) in the transfer window.

I must admit I started picking my stable b4 the guineas to see what I could come up with but I wouldn't have started well as Luxembourg would have been a Banker but he could still come in at the window. I don't know if you have noticed the fixture list but on the day it finishes which is Champions day on the same day there's a big meet in Australia where the results will count.

I have the Aussie horse Native Strip in a few lines as the trainer stated he would come to England but would hope to have something left in the tank for the Everest which is run on the last day of the comp...
