Snow?

Post by blahblah »

The papers seem to be full of impending blizzards etc, but I can't find any forecasts from the forecasters....

Will it snow?

Will fixtures be postponed?

Can see a little bit out of my window but as it is nice and sunny and there is nothing below about 2800ft we should be OK.

You know nothing ;)

We always get a “beast from the east” forecast by the chavloids two or three times a winter. I can think of only one occasion in recent memory it’s actually happened (across a large part of the UK).

There were a few about 12 years ago: freaking freezing and SNOW.

Yeah, that was a pretty beastly winter as a whole (2010-11 I think). The more recent March one was 2018, as I had some “on this day 4 years ago” photos pop up this week…

I remember 3ish bad winters 2008-10 ish...

This one has been hideously mild so far, and Blob has allowed anti-bee spray to be used to save some sugar beet because it hasn't been cold enough to kill the beasties in the sugar beet.

I've just finished my 7th winter oop norf and we have yet to have a bad one wrt snow. The 'Beast From The East' was probably as bad as it got and that was March I think.

I lived in Buxton for one winter, got snowed in once when trying to get to Manchester for a gig. While there I was told of this, first class cricket cancelled in June for snow:

So the snow did come down in June then. Did the sun go round the moon? (that was the next line, I believe…)

School got cancelled by snow for good reason in them days - the snow was over the roof. Now they close schools if one snowflake is spotted and there is a million to one chance of someone slipping over and sueing the school.

So, it all evens itself out, well in terms of number of days when schools are closed anyway

Save the best for last by Vanessa Williams.

Prince did one called Sometimes it snows in April. Lovely slow number.

Yeah, the former was on TOTP ‘92 recently. The Prince one wins on statistical probability, anyway…

Surely 'the last' is December when it often does snow so Vanessa had that bit right. Is snow 'the best'? Opinions may differ on that one.

Think it was technically a white christmas this year just gone as one flake fell on a Met Office roof somewhere in Scotland on the 25th.

It used to have to be the London Weather Centre to be “official”, but they’ve obviously gone less London-centric as a nod to the “United” Kingdom…

I know you can get odds individually on each city with a Met Office roof (or whatever they use)

Apparently they may get a flurry in the next day or so, but there will be no Beast from anywhere

I still get and eat Penguins and Clubs (for seals? "Me and my girl, out on the ice, me and my girl....")

Not seen a Trio for years.

Remember the name 5-4-3-2-1 but nothing else.....
