Best duo

Which duo would you bring in over the next couple of weeks? Ignore Bowen and Gallagher if suggesting alternatives. Only one can be a defender.

I've been giving a combo of Saka and Rudiger in some teams some thought over the weekend but that was when I thought Jota was still injured.

Think you need a Chelsea defender from hereon in. Most will have sold so you need to be back on board to get ahead.

Said it before but LFC having 5 striking options is an issue with Jota. Salah starts every game pretty much, Mane not far behind. Jota feels like the next best now so does he get the Champions Lge games and fewer Prem games? But if I've read that wrong I'm ruling out a 4.7m 2nd leading scorer in the league.

Jota looked a little rusty today too. No need to rush on that one.

Can't believe I've just suggested getting a Chelsea bloke and hold off on a Liverpool bloke straight after that Cup Final.

Buy Kelleher now

None of that is inspiring me Darbyand. I put JWP last week for the extra games and to try and be a bit different but I already have buyers regret.

Struggling for good ideas in the space you are looking. Maybe do nowt for now?

It needs to happen, either option will almost certainly do better than a couple of duds I'm carrying.

Well, Saka looks better than JWP  I am definitely holding off the Jota move for all the reasons above and because Diaz has looked good in the league games to me. He is something different so I think he will get decent pitch time.

Saka and Rudiger, time to get Chelsea In? I'm not used to this FA cup planning🧐 so will check out the team sheets. Arsenal not in it, but have plenty of games and good fixtures.

Due to still having Antonio lurking about I may now go for Jota and Rudiger and may even dump Bowen for Saka. So in terms of your pole I am still on my original choice of Saka and Rudiger.

Good luck with whatever you choose to do. :)

Is James almost fit again? I’d have him in the duo over Rudiger. Maybe in time I’ll have both.

Similar to the VVD Vs Robertson debate for me Slick...your instincts take you one way, but Stats Centre does not lie.

Southampton have more and better fixtures than Arsenal.

I'd do Chelsea defender + one of JWP, Broja, Ramsey.

Trouble is that the stats relate to the past and we're more interested in the future. Spotting where the future diverges from what the stats are suggesting is a winning strategy. Pity that it's difficult to pull off. I'd always go with my gut feeling unless the stats say that it's totally ridiculous.

Striker: Of course, as an example I've got 5 x Kane despite poor season to date stats (by his standards) as I think he'll have a great run-in. Not exactly sticking my neck out with that one but I'm not wedded to stats. I think James comes with an injury/rotation* risk borne out by the stats to date which I think makes him a risky choice compared to Rudiger....that said, both may come in at some point

Any thoughts on Jota?

*He made his comeback on Sunday and I saw a Tuchel quote today saying he was immediately in the "overload" zone as it went to ET.

Ditto JWP. Can't regret after 1 game. He has x4 coming up in quick succession so see those out then decide. Surely will be some returns there. Then maybe jump off for x2 Arsenal fixtures in the same week.

Yes, it is the explosive points potential that attaches to James when he is flying high in the wing back role that gets me all excited.

I’ve got no idea how they measure the overload assessment but that doesn’t sound great  Maybe I’ll wait a week or so.

I spent an hour and a half in the fixture schedule tonight. I’ve got nothing!

I went for Saka and Rudiger. Like everyone else mentioned I will be getting onboard with a Chelsea def later and maybe even another Lvpl one dependent on team news (which I've just realised I won't get for Lvpl game, errgghhh) in a bit. Keeping an eye on Jota for now though.

I did! The next two fixtures convinced me to continue to hold (so missing Saka points today) but will look at it again after those.

That sounds like anything from a couple of days rest to a persistent issue. Not helpful Mr Tickle
