seem to be some positional changes from the group stage game, Muller now a striker rather than a mid, Tadic now a mid rather than a striker

Interesting. That probably puts Sane and Gnabry ahead of Muller then in terms of which other Bayern attacking asset to go for along with Lewandowski.

Tadic is going to be stupidly high owned. The Muller move makes sense as creates a safety net. Same with Jota.

only entered 1 team into this but not many seats sold so far, still over 10,000 left, assume they'll be a late flurry, though 24 before hand you'd have thought a lot more would have gone, can they change the prize payout if it were a low turnout? they should have made it cheaper imo, think the group stage was £16, maybe make it £10 to get more entries through the door.

Re: CHAMPIONS LEAGUE KNOCKOUT GAME [€50K TO 1ST]
€250,000 UCL KNOCKOUT CONTEST STARTS TOMORROW - email update from Fanteam
Our €250,000 UEFA Champions League Knockout game gets underway tomorrow at 21:00 CET.
The €50,000 first place prize will go to the person who can guide their 11-man team of European superstars to the top of our leaderboard after seven gameweeks of Champions League football.
If you have yet to enter a team, or are still debating on your lineup, then we have put together some stats from the FanTeam Sportsbook to help you with your decisions.
Reminder: With a wildcard after the round of 16 ties there is no need to look further ahead than these first two legs when making your team. The wildcard will allow you to make a completely new team for the quarter finals. Make sure you read our special UCL blog to familiarise yourself with all the rules of our UEFA Champions League Knockout game
Top four teams by win %
1st - 78.74% Manchester City (1.27)
3rd - 75.73% Chelsea (1.32)
2nd - 74.07% Bayern Munich (1.35)
4th - 51.02% Ajax (1.96)
Expect Man City, Bayern Munich & Chelsea to be popular for the first two gameweeks! They are the big three favourites on the slate.
Who to choose in attack?
Odds of over 2.5 goals per fixture.
70.92% Salzburg vs. Bayern Munich (1.41)
62.11% Sporting vs. Manchester City (1.61)
61.35% PSG vs. Real Madrid (1.63)
59.17% Chelsea vs. Lille (1.69)
59.17% Inter vs. Liverpool (1.69)
58.82% Benfica vs. Ajax (1.70)
46.52% Villareal vs. Juventus (2.15)
46.08% Atletico Madrid vs. Manchester United (2.17)
With so many likely to choose players from the big three favourites, it could be that there is a lot of value in targeting players outside of these teams.
If we look at the likelihood of over 2.5 goals over the eight fixtures we see Benfica, Ajax. Inter, Liverpool, PSG and Real Madrid all play in matches with a high chance of goals.
Below are the top scorers for each of these teams from the group stages.
Benfica - Darwin Nunez 3 goals, 0 assists
Ajax - Sebastian Haller 10 goals, 2 assists
Inter - Edin Dzeko 3 goals, 1 assist
Liverpool - Mohammed Salah 7 goals, 0 assists
PSG - Lionel Messi 5 goals, 1 assist
Real Madrid - Karim Benzema 5 goals, 1 assist
Who to choose in defence?
From the three big favourites it's Chelsea and Man City who have the highest odds for keeping a clean sheet. Chelsea's opponents chances of scoring a goal are at 1.89 (52.89%), City's at 1.93 (51.81%), while Bayerns opponents have a fairly high likelihood of getting a goal in comparison at 1.58 (63.29%)
Looking at these odds it could make sense to stack your defence with Chelsea and Man City options with Bayern saved for the attack.
As an alternative from Chelsea and Man City you could target teams in fixtures with a lower chance of goals. We can go back to the odds of over 2.5 goals to see that it is Villarreal, Juventus, Atletico Madrid & Man United who look likely to be in low scoring game.
46.52% Villareal vs. Juventus (2.15)
46.08% Atletico Madrid vs. Manchester United (2.17)
*All odds are from the FanTeam Sportsbook and are correct at the time of writing.
We hope the above have given you some food for thought!

Re: CHAMPIONS LEAGUE KNOCKOUT GAME [€50K TO 1ST]
Think a few are holding back for late entry - it might not be the worst idea with the likes of Bayern, Liverpool, Ajax and City all away from home in the 1st leg. You do of course need 1 or 2 banana skins in those games to make the late entry worth it. Big wins for a couple of those teams will make it incredibly tough for the late entries to win the big money.aurora wrote: ↑14 Feb 2022, 18:21 only entered 1 team into this but not many seats sold so far, still over 10,000 left, assume they'll be a late flurry, though 24 before hand you'd have thought a lot more would have gone, can they change the prize payout if it were a low turnout? they should have made it cheaper imo, think the group stage was £16, maybe make it £10 to get more entries through the door.

I went for Antony and Haller instead. Both have considerably higher ownership than Tadic. I didn't see the appeal of Tadic when you can get a city mid for a similar price.

picked 2 differentials, Nunez and Silva for Benfica, the rest pretty standard, 2x city defenders, 2x chelsea defenders, Lewandowski captain, picked Gnabry as well, and Lukaku
regret not picking any outfield city players already lol, will have to hope Bayern run riot.

Got Mahrez in 3 out of 4 teams,2 Sterling and 1 KDB. No Bernardo Silva though, good job he's only in 3%.

2 Sterling, 2 Mahrez, 1 Foden and 1 Bernardo here across my 6 teams. No double ups in midfield though - I was too attracted towards the cheap defender prices so mostly doubled up there. Just 7 mil for city defenders is surely underpriced when there are defenders priced at 8.5?

Happy with my start too. Four teams, the highest is currently 905th and each have 8 players remaining. All four teams had a City treble last night, with 2x Sterling captain gaining 24.6pts.
The other two have Lewandowski captain but at 72% ownership - and almost certainly a very high captaincy % - it may be preferable if he has a quiet night.

It would be brave to go without him next game. Good decision tonight though, Salzburg were impressive.
Doubled-up on Liverpool defenders in each team and they have proved surprising differential; Van Dijk 10%, Robertson 12%. Even Alexander-Arnold is only 21%.

I had already given up on this after such a bad start, but to add insult to injury, Lukaku is on the bench against Lille, and so is Werner.

You haven't had much luck in this Aurora, you could still finish in the money though. My best 2 are 654th and 972nd both with 2 Ajax to play tonight. How is everyone else doing? Not sure what to do with my transfers as I'm quite happy with my team.

Re: CHAMPIONS LEAGUE KNOCKOUT GAME [€50K TO 1ST]
Currently 63rd in my highest of four, 88.0pts.
I would like to understand how FanTeam are attributing safety net though. I had a second team in the top 100 which had Danilo safety for Bonucci, and he then changed to De Sciglio mid-match. All three are 7.0 players and FanTeam rules indicate it is done by 1) Form, 2) Total Points and 3) Alphabetically. Danilo was ahead of De Sciglio on all metrics.
Top team will drop this evening, whereas the others should hold station. If I can remain in the top 150 heading into the next round of fixtures, I will be content.

Ricky is solely going for late entries - did he not back himself to beat the average in GW7?

entering a late team on 60pts (just seen) is worth it, just 39 points behind top with 21 matches to play, especially if you're team was a car crash like mine

Yeah it shouldn't be too difficult to cash from late entry considering half of all entries captained Lewandowski in GW7. That's ultimately what brought the average down.

my late entry team scored 49.2pts tonight - I only had 2 players! Lewansowski captain and Muller, 51 pts behind top with 9 players left
though am relying on too many clean sheets, (5 defenders), and have no City mids.
