You would imagine that once a whole squad has caught Covid then they'll have natural immunity for a while so should be able to play. Just rearrange the fixtures so Spurs plays Man Utd and Watford plays Brentford and we'll be ok.

Immunity gained from having symptomless covid is, apparently, less effective than being vaccinated.

Now confirmed cancelled.

Down to 2 games tonight (Chelsea have some covid but are still playing)

Didn’t Leicester already have a stack of injuries? Perhaps that’s unfair but I’m really unclear on the Covid rules which is a bigger question regarding maintaining the integrity of the competition than the Omicron infections themselves.

It’s such a tough consideration and we are going to have to learn to live with this thing as safely as possible but for me (and perhaps this won’t age well) that doesn’t mean calling off seasons now, an opinion that seems to be gathering pace.

What if we exhaust the Greek alphabet for variants over the next 5 years?

I’m pushing for wingdings next! Or possibly TFFL legends of yore. “I’ve caught a nasty dose of the Dan Petrescu’s” etc.

Man U - Brighton also confirmed postponed. Good news for those (not me) that gambled that would happen and took up a 3 for 0 option…assuming of course one of the 3s doesn’t also get postponed.

I was half tempted to start a 3-0 this evening but not sure that is justifiable now. Probably more chance my selection goes into Covid lockdown after tonight’s game and Ronaldo and United return before the 2nd game! What a shambles.

Fabinho, Curtis Jones and Virgil van Dijk will miss tonight’s Premier League fixture against Newcastle United after registering suspected positive tests for COVID-19.

3 for 0s increasingly looking like they could become 0 for 0s:

BREAKING
Four more weekend PL games off
Big news in from the Premier League - a further four matches have been called off this weekend.

Southampton v Brentford, Watford v Crystal Palace and West Ham United v Norwich City on Saturday are gone.

So too is Sunday's game between Everton and Leicester.

Manchester United v Brighton had already been called off.

That leaves five top-flight games this weekend.

How many cases must these clubs have if Liverpool, Chelsea and others are playing with at least 3 cases each.

Yep. Maybe a mini circuit breaker of this weekend and the Cup games might help but I’m not hopeful.

Interesting that both Chelsea and Liverpool have cases but they are playing. Not a huge amount of consistency.

Surely there's a case for a total shutdown of fixtures it's getting to the point where Spurs as an example will have to fit in at least 3 extra games where others by pure luck have none how is that fair?

Chelsea and Liverpool are looking at the big picture and don't want fixture piles up at the business end of the season with potential European games etc.

Most of the bleating clubs don't/won't have that.

But it will be a miracle if eg VvD hasn’t been in close proximity at some point and “infected” a team mate who now goes on to infect the Newcastle team and so on.

We are right back where we were pre vax when we had the previous fixture shutdown.

Unless it’s a charade…….

Exactly. Which is we need proper rules rather than just a 'he who bleats gets postponed' system.

To the best of my knowledge there have been very few recorded player cases and zero games postponed in Scotland where teams rely very heavily on match day income. Community case levels just as high as in England. Mmm.

34% don't have him. Would assume that figure is a fair bit lower in the top 10k....
