TFF chit chat 25th, 26th and 27th September
SATURDAY 25TH SEPTEMBER
Chelsea 12:30 Manchester City
This weekend's batch of matches kicks off with a top of the table clash between Chelsea and Manchester City. Both teams have recorded identical results over the past four games and both sides qualified for the next round of the Carabao Cup in midweek. For Chelsea, Mendy is a doubt, whereas there are question marks over Gundogan and Rodri for City.
Manchester United 12:30 Aston Villa
The second of the 12:30 games is Manchester United against Aston Villa. In contrast to the previous two teams, both of these sides lost in the Cup during the week. Manchester United are joint top of the League thanks to a late David De Gea penalty save against West Ham last weekend. Ronaldo is looking good. Aston Villa beat Everton last time out with a fit again Bailey scoring.
Everton 15:00 Norwich City
Four 3pm kick-offs this weekend, the first of which features Everton and Norwich. The Canaries are rock bottom of the League but at least Pukki got on the scoresheet last Saturday. The Toffees lie in 6th but have lost to Villa and QPR (on pens) in the past week. Digne is an injury doubt for this match after being tied in knots by Charlie Austin on Tuesday night.
Leeds United 15:00 West Ham United
Next, Leeds United versus West Ham at Elland Road. Leeds picked up a point last weekend against Newcastle. Raphinha score in that one but is an injury doubt for today, as are Ayling and Harrison. Bamford is confirmed as out. West Ham lost last weekend to Man U but got revenge in the Carabao Cup. Antonio is available for this one after his recent suspension.
Leicester City 15:00 Burnley
Leicester v Burnley at the King Power is next up. Burnley won in the Cup on Tuesday, Jay Rodriguez scored all four but is likely to miss out today with Dyche preferring Barnes and Ch Wood up front. Leicester are sat in mid-table which is quite surprising, having been beaten by Brighton last weekend. Looking like Lookman may get a look-in today.
Watford 15:00 Newcastle United
The last of the 3 o'clock matches is Watford against Newcastle. Watford are sat in mid-table after their recent win over Norwich when Dennis and Sarr were on the scoresheet. Will Foster remain in goal? Newcastle are still sat in the bottom 3 but picked up a point against Leeds last Friday. Saint-Maximin scored and is likely to be up front again as Wilson is still out.
Brentford 17:30 Liverpool
At 5:30, Ivan Toney's Brentford against Liverpool. The Bees are flying high in 9th place and have only lost once so far this season. Toney scored but Baptiste got sent off. Forss scored 4 in the Carabao, can he force his way into the team? For Liverpool, Trent is a doubt and Firmino is probably still out. Mane scored his 100th goal for the club last weekend.
SUNDAY 26TH SEPTEMBER
Southampton 14:00 Wolverhampton Wanderers
Sunday's early match is Southampton v Wolverhampton Wanderers at 2pm. The Saints drew again last weekend, that's 4 in a row (5 if you include the midweek Cup result). Livramento looks a cheap defensive option. Wolves have only won once all season but find themselves only a single point behind Southampton. Is this the time for Hwang to shine?
Arsenal 16:30 Tottenham Hotspur
Cor! It's the North London derby at 4:30pm this Sunday. The Gunners come into this game off the back of two straight League wins plus a victory in the Cup. This is the polar opposite to Spurs who've lost their last two League games. Kane has stopped blowing the doors off but as least Son was back last weekend. Arsenal are likely to continue with Ramsdale in goal.
MONDAY 27TH SEPTEMBER
Crystal Palace 20:00 Brighton & Hove Albion
And finally, the how-is-this-a-derby derby featuring Crystal Palace and Brighton & Hove Albion. Palace are 14th in the table with Gallagher in good form at the moment. Still no Eze for the Eagles but Olise is back fit. Brighton are in 4th place, nose-bleed territory for them. Maupay on 3 goals already. Doubts over the fitness of Bissouma and Mac Allister.

In case you were wondering:
A club statement read: “Our home match against Aston Villa on 25 September has been brought forward to a 12.30 BST kick-off, following a request from Trafford Council Safety Advisory Group to move the game due to The Courteeners concert at Lancashire Cricket Club, Emirates Old Trafford, on the same day. “This request was supported by Greater Manchester Police and TfGM to avoid significant crowd, traffic and operational issues locally. “We regret any disruption that this may cause around our supporters’ plans for the day.”

Stats from the news email:
The best way to work your way up the Telegraph Fantasy Football leaderboard is to focus on the teams around your position and ensure you outperform them. Teams further up or further down are more likely to have different targets and transfer strategies to you. So, to help you gauge where your team is at, here is a quick breakdown of the average number of transfers made to date:
- Top 100 - 19.62
- Top 1,000 - 13.27
- Top 10,000 - 8.18
I've got 1 x 34 remaining, 3 x 35 and 1 x 36.

Torres is suddenly out of favour. Had played every game (first 4?) so I decided to buy him and he hasn't started since. Therefore he remains out of my teams (cue a sub appearance and hat trick, ok, maybe not against Chelsea!). The like of Toney and Antonio get a reprieve.
Chelsea have a good run after today. Shame they don't play late this weekend.

Just looked up the best time to buy Chelsea and they play early nearly every weekend.
The next time to get a bonus game from Kane to Lukaku for example is...... 30th November

in the 12.30 kick-offs yesterday, 2 of my defenders limped off and Fernandes missed a penalty. Then Vardy scored an own goal, so to end up with 29 points doesn't feel like too much of a disaster. Anyone got any info on Reece James and Luke Shaw's injuries? (Could be a good opportunity to dump Shaw anyway)

Just checked to see if any of my players even beat 7 and I had an 8 in one team and a 9 appearing in 2 (different) teams thanks to the new bonus scores. Only big name to do well for me was Salah on a 7. That is as unflat as I got, best weekly score in 32,876th (29 pts). Not sure where the 32,875 teams above me got their points!

The new bonus points are "interesting" that's for sure. Still trying to get a full handle on them and how much they should sway you on wanting a player but here's a couple of examples from the highest numbers of each from players in each category:murf wrote: ↑26 Sep 2021, 12:15Just checked to see if any of my players even beat 7 and I had an 8 in one team and a 9 appearing in 2 (different) teams thanks to the new bonus scores. Saves: Meslier has made 27 saves so despite Leeds' rotten (defensive) start is on 15 points, a respectable 2.5ppg despite 15 goals conceded and not a single clean sheet.
Tackles: Willock has made 22 TFF tackles in his 5 games so is on 19 points despite not having a single goal involvement. One to watch if his eye for goals returns.

Re: TFF chit chat 25th, 26th and 27th September
Their stats page isn't much help as it deals in 'saves' not 'save points'.
Meslier tops the ranks on 27 saves (next 21). I think, by reverse engineering, that is 11 points or an extra 1.83 on his PPG.
Ederson is, by far, the worst regular keeper on just 5 saves (2 pts) - 0.33 PPG, 1.5 worse.
Does that tell us much? Maybe not as Ederson is still doing better overall than 'expected' due to 5 CSs out of 6 and Meslier is doing worse than expected due to no CSs! Probably the best bet is a keeper who keeps some CSs but faces a lot of shots and so makes a lot of saves too.
In terms of PPM, Brentford's keeper is top BUT the next 4 are all big guns. Meslier 16th.
Hope the above is more helpful to you all than it was to me!

Re: TFF chit chat 25th, 26th and 27th September
It’s been a underwhelming weekend for most other than those that have differentiated a bit more and I don’t think that’s too many.
I’m not seeing lots of opportunity to improve my team despite a strong urge to do so! I think this is the point I need to sit on my hands and not force it.
I could have distracted myself by getting immersed in the Ryder Cup Sunday singles, however….

Southampton make one change from the side that began their last Premier League match - a 0-0 draw away at reigning champions Manchester City - as Mohammed Salisu replaces Jack Stephens, who is out for up to three months with a knee injury sustained in that match.SamD wrote: ↑26 Sep 2021, 13:06 Southampton

Shane Long, yet to play in the league this season, is back on the Saints bench after testing positive for Covid-19 earlier this month.
Wolves make three changes from the side that began their last Premier League game - the 2-0 home loss to Brentford on 18 September.
Out go Ruben Neves, Francisco Trincao and Adama Traore, all of whom drop to the bench, and in come Hwang Hee-chan, Leander Dendoncker and Daniel Podence.
