GW5 FPL Wildcard

Post by thebillfella »

Got spooked by the number of players I was looking to get in GW7/8 looking like they were about to price change overnight (most didn't as it transpires   ) and hit the WC last night while watch Emma R on 4+1!

Gonna see how Salah looks later to decide if he becomes Lukaku but think Bruno to CR7 looks inevitable for the other premium. If Lukaku comes in the Salah and Bruno become Jota and Pogba or Torres (possibly both) with TAA / Laporte / Alonso forming the baseline defence.

Plenty of playing to be had this week to try to catch the odd price rise before fixing the team.

What do you folks think of Moussa Sissoko as a 4.5 million midfielder? I've always thought he had a bit of attacking potential, relatively speaking.

I already have Bissouma and he is staying for now. But if my team structure is going with 2 4.5's, how do we think Sissoko might stack up against Brownhill or Gilmour?

Looked good yesterday against Wolves. Caused problems for Marcal and Saiss.

Yes a further ponder means I may only go with one 4.5, and I think I'll take him over Bissouma. Feel he has higher potential. Also Bissuma is my third Brighton player so will free up a spot just in case...

Also on WC but thinking about going without Ronaldo.

- Will captain Salah for Palace (Gw5) Brentford GW6
- Will captain Lukaku for Southampton GW 7 -and If I go with Ronaldo now thats a transfer that needs to be Done anyway

I dont think its worth it to bring in Ronaldo now. Not that many will captain him (potential damage Are limited).
Also Lukaku vs Spurs looks like a good game.

I' m thinking that Salah, Lukaku and CR7 will continue to score good points in every game they play in, the choice between them (as R_NZ has already covered in blog) may not matter much as in the total weekly points difference could be small regardless of which ones we choose to play or captain?
I 'm going to watch CR7 play every game hoping this holds true  .

WC pressed - Antonio Red was a deciding factor.

Sanchez

TAA - White - Cresswell

Salah - Gray - Rapiniha - JWP

Ronaldo - Lukaku - Edouard
————————————————-
Steele - Gilmour - Livramento

Did have Torres and Bissouma in for JWP and Gray - but didn’t want the rotation risk, that is coming back with foden and KDB fit and champs league starting.

At the moment I think I've narrowed down my options to two differentials (with the rest of the team being set):

1) Jota or Greenwood / Torres / Lukaku
2) Gallagher / Salah / DCL or Bamford

Think I'm heading towards option 1 atm given the additional options at the sub £8m mid price range vs the sub £6m price range, but that means going without Salah (who I think will outscore Lukaku so may make me switch back as he is a better captain option still atm IMO). Decision changing every hour!

Option 2 looks better to me overall (if Bamford can start to score goals then he looks a better option than DCL, though you probably have some value locked in there). Reasons being:

- Salah will probably outscore Lukaku, as you say.
- Option 2 swerves the City / Chelsea clash in GW6; option 1 runs headlong into it.
- Option 2 has guaranteed starters, whereas Option 1 has a few nailbiters.

Obviously Gallagher is unproven, but at the moment he's more than VFM. Rocky fixture run, though.

Yeah I think he'll keep his spot now. Leno will only have a year left at the end of this season and he's been refusing to sign a new contract. Now that Ramsdale started on Saturday I don't see Arteta chopping and changing the keepers. I imagine Leno will now be playing in the cup competitions going forward.

Fair comment. Guess I'm focusing too heavily on how uninspiring Gallagher feels rather than focusing more on the other tow positions that are stronger. Even as I wrote it I was changing my mind!

The Gallagher appeal depends on Eduoard playing, do why not just go for him?

Do the players pick the structure; or the structure pick the players?

Depends! But I usually start with a structure, see which players I like that fit and then go through one by one seeing if there are better players that I'd prefer, breaking the structure to suit if necessary

I might be up for a wild card now seeing as two of my three forwards are DCL and Antonio with no spare transfers.

I’m thinking the same as my only available forward is Toney.

For those on their wildcard, who are you picking as your third striker in the absence of DCL and Antonio? (I'm assuming you have already picked Ronaldo and Lukaku). I'm tempted by Jimenez (BRE) as a placeholder for one week only but really not sure.

Bamford has a decent run coming up. Watkins looked lively against Chelsea. At the cheaper end, I’m waiting for Armstrong at Southampton to go on a run, has looked like he can cut it at this level but I have concerns over the rest of the team.

Lukaku should score more goals than Salah… but Salah is a midfielder.

A Salah goal is worth 30% more points than a Lukaku goal. That’s quite a huge margin.

This is why over a season OOP midfielders like Salah, Jota, Torres, etc are a much better choice than 3 FWD’s.

I think hes a good player who was underrated at spurs. He's a great 4.5m enabler to sit on your bench every week in FPL, he's guaranteed to play every week if you need him to come off the bench and its unlikely he cock blocks you from a situation where you want triple watford. I wouldn't get him in to be a starter though, he doesnt have much attacking potentional and will return a string of 2s and 3s. That's unless Watford use him differently to how hes been used in the past.

All previous plans scrapped with DCL out  , what is the point of a wildcard if you dont use when needed :)
I might go Dennis and play 4 4 2 :?:

Sa (4.0)
Trent Shaw Tierney (Livra Williams)
Salah Jota Raph Gray (4.5)
Ronaldo Antonio Bamford

Right on the money for this. Any thoughts on GKs? Plus Arsenal/Wolves defensive asset combination? Will switch to triple Chelsea before 7.

Yes wahine, that's the initial idea. Only thing missing is Man City.. maybe have Cancelo instead of Gray?
