Just a bit of trivia while we wait for the next exciting instalment.
As this round was such a high scoring round I checked the hall of fame records for the highest round score.
Mintman scored 499 in Season 6 round 5, the chips would be not what we have now so that was an absolutely brilliant score.
At that time he was 6th in the world.
HOF link here
I was not playing FPL in 2010-11 so can someone let me know what the chips were back then please

2010-11 I think was just 1 WC which many played early, I saved mine for GW30-ish double.

I hope you are well ONZ. 8-)

Thanks Brightwater, I see you had your first Premier league win in 2010 season 6 round 1 :)
With only the WC it makes Mintman's round score of 499 very special. Some of will get close this round but that is with the Salah 3xC and or BB.

Doing well thanks, the new heart valve is working well :) and building up strength for round 2 when they tackle the bowel issue next week.

Like Brightwater I was a member (we still are) of The Assassins along with Mintman who was founder and captain. Arguably the greatest ever 5AS team 8-)

I'm pretty sure the captains armband was around then because I was constantly bitching about it in the forums because (in my view) it is a lottery whether you gain from it not skill. Mind you I think I bitched more about the introduction of bonus points.

They're probably going to introduce a new bonus next year for players who dont wear gloves when the temperature goes below 5 degrees :)

Congrats to Wahine for the PL victory! A great score.
And congratulations to TheRumourMill for winning the division where I belong at the moment.
And finally, a big "thank you" and "wow" to ONZ for winning his division and having the highest score in the entire universe of leagues this season. The greatest score.

So this is the end?

I think ONZ said he would keep it going to the end of this season, so not quite the end just yet….

Definitely a “wow” to ONZ for that score!!!

And congrats to Wahine, very well deserved and capped with a great score in the final week.

….while personally I was very pleased to complete my “great escape”… having been 19th, 20th, 20th and 19th in the first four weeks of this round, before scraping my way (thanks to that well known meal: WC & chips!) to the safety of 14th in the final week, thereby preserving my long-standing presence in the PL for another round :D

17 3xC's, 6 BB's, 3 FH's and 2 WC's played this week.
I see the inventor of this side game doing well so far even without playing a chip this GW, well played Reds363 https://fantasy.premierleague.com/entry/280568/event/29
I will post a link to the round 6 sheet once FPL update the data and I can download and sort it. atm I only have captain and chips played data. Not surprisingly Salah is the predominant captain pick with a few Kane and the odd Walker and TAA. Aardvark went with Richarlison as a differential and I wish him luck with that :)
Stay tuned for the net exciting instalment and good luck all, please post your tales of success or failed punts as this DGW progresses.

Tables updated with todays games, I hope I have captured all the bonus points in the data scrape. If not it will be corrected after the Palace v City match :)
link in the post above for the sheet. Data sorted by GW score with no hits, as this is the first GW of the round and transfers have no cost ( just the same as setting up a team in preseason for GW1 of FPL).

Hey ONZ
I think the scrape has missed off the Arsenal bonus points. As you say, they will get pulled through next time. But it does mean that Ramsdale and White owners will get a bit of a boost. ’Spose that’d be true of Partey too if anyone still owned him!

Thanks :) I ran the scripts again and it seems to have picked up the bonus points now. I only looked at a couple of teams before that I knew had Ramsdale
but I checked a wider sample this time before running. I had to break the script into 4 parts to make it work or it just timed out using my very slow system

Thanks again ONZ.

Thinking again about my “great escape” from relegation in the last round got me thinking about how long I have managed to stay in the PL in this comp, and so have just checked.

Yes, I am currently the longest-serving member of the PL - I got promoted from the Championship in R4 of 2019-20 and since then have managed to stay there for over two years, 17 successive rounds (including this one). Other long-standing members of the PL are Snakzz (promoted R3 last year), Ruudtheduudvantheman (R4 last year) and Redsnout (R5 last year).

So while others like Bossdrum and TheBillFella have had stellar seasons, winning lots of titles and Team of the Year, but then followed by relegation, my record is mostly one of mid-table obscurity! I did manage to win one round, the final round of 2019-20, but the rest of it has been consistent mediocrity (between 3rd and 14th last year, and between 5th and 14th this year).

Some of you may have seen my posts on the STC, Ruth and other threads, where I go on about my “safety-first approach” to FPL, steering clear (for the most part) of differentials and instead being happy with a templatish approach, getting into the top 100k every year, but only rarely hitting the heights of the top 10k or thereabouts.

I think this may be reflected in my Divisionals record above… looks like I am a specialist in being “quite good” 😂

Well that's a bit of an understatement - when you say "a little blip in the middle" you mean "the year I finished 6th, out of over 8m players worldwide"!!

Credit where credit's due mate, that was an incredible year, and unsurprisingly you swept the board on everything you touched that year in FISO.

btw I think the blah trademarked word is bstrd, rather than b*stard :D
