I looked it up, and they actually now play in Oswestry which is in England (though originally representing Llansantffraid, on the other side of the border...)

Does the English team get to represent Wales in Europe?

Re: Breakaway European Super League
Looks like it, they’ve played at that ground since 2007 and are in Europe most years. Presumably it’s very close to the border (didn’t Chester used to play at a ground that was partially in England and partially in Wales?)
I suppose Swansea qualified as an “English” team when they won the Coca-Carling Worthless Cup, so it must be down to the league system you play in and nothing else these days.

Re: Breakaway European Super League
This from The Times a couple of hours ago;
NEW: At least one of the English 'big six' is considering pulling out of the European Super League after the widespread opposition and backlash from their own fans.
I'd guess (and as was mentioned in that very heated discussion on sky last night) that it's Man City - as their owners don't really need any more money, and they invested in football more as a PR exercise - which is backfiring at the moment.

Re: Breakaway European Super League
The dominoes are falling, and everyone involved looks like ending up with a lot of egg on their faces.
Has this blunted the power of the big clubs, or is it just a sweetener for something scaled down under UEFA’s control?

Re: Breakaway European Super League
The six should still be punished, otherwise this will keep happening. And no concessions from the FA or UEFA.
And I really hope that the contracts those clubs signed are enforced and they have to pay huge sums in compensation.
Greedy bustards should get what they deserve.

Re: Breakaway European Super League
Ideally there'd be a sliding scale of punishment (relegation of 2 leagues being the worst, one league next, then points deductions and CL bans) and the 6 would play a tourney to see who gets what.bspittles wrote: ↑20 Apr 2021, 20:23 The six should still be punished, otherwise this will keep happening. B - was already going to go at the end of the season.
All that changed is they announced it early.... Strange. Just to appease mad fans by throwing them a small bone??? Cynical? Moi?

As disastrous 74-year-old presidents who have tried to stage a coup in 2021 go, Florentino Perez isn't quite the worst.
