All over. Congrats to the winners.

I got confused the other day, thinking we were doing well but all the rounds are mixed up!

I would consider the cash out, but for the fact that they were offering me £41 before the McGill match

So I'll just cling to the hope the Ronnie won't find his cue action

Because he doesn’t have the robotic mentality of a Phil Taylor, or a Davis or Hendry for that matter. He’s more the flawed genius of an Alex Higgins, a George Best or Gazza etc. but he’s managed to avoid their ultimate self-destruction, in fact “semi-retirement” has brought out the best in him. He’s still managed to have longer at the top, and more majors in total, than the players who had really dominant eras.
This with bells on. Ronnie has done well to get to 5, could well be 6. He's never had the mental strength. In my opnion it's down to his upbringing. The ironic thing he looks after himself, diet wise and exercise. With snooker it's all a bit "I want to win but don't really give a shit" sort of thing with Ronnie. He sort of bleats that he isn't cueing well, he's playing awful, when he's got sky high standards. The interviews last night have split the snooker fraternity. If you think Selby is dour and boring, then his comments about Ronnie whacking the ball to get out of snooker were sour grapes. Opposingly Ronnie behaved like a petulant child and showed no respect for his opponent or snooker itself. A bit of both, probably.

The real tragedy was Jimmy White never winning it. Nothing wrong mentally, just did all the wrong things lifestyle wise. Makes for an enjoyable read - "Second wind" - if you ever get the chance. Only just behind the Alex Higgins book "The Hurricane" by Bill Borrows. A real eye opener. Both highly recommended :)

Lay it off. You should be able to guarantee profit as Wilson isn't going to get anywhere near winning.

I think I'll stay on for the ride :)

Surely the main reason Jimmy never won it was Hendry, he just had his number and he knew it, not sure lifestyle changes would have addressed that. I think there was one year he missed a big chance in a deciding frame but in some of those finals he got blown away and it just seemed inevitable. He was just unlucky his career overlapped with the two most dominant spells snooker has ever seen. Still won plenty of other major titles...

As murf has already worked out, the second half is a dead rubber. Commiserations to him and kingcurtley.

Thanks for organising, Shaggy, and to Rick Spangle for guiding us to cup glory.

Darbyand wrote: 14 Aug 2020, 22:16 Looks like nevblake has got the Fiso table title. 5 X Ronnie will overtake the 4 X Ronnie of Shaggy.
It's looking that way, but if my sums are right, I think Shaggy still has an outside chance if Ronnie loses, as long as he still wins 12 to 15 frames. 16 or more and nevblake's extra multiplier trumps him. 11 or less and owenclass overhauls the pair of them.

As a disclaimer to the above, I've miscalculated my own points on more than one occasion over the last fortnight, so the predicted grade for my maths isn't high.

Wilson really needed that last frame, he had more than enough chances. Both players out of sorts after yesterday’s efforts but Ronnie doing enough to get over the line in the tight frames. We could be in “session to spare” territory if we get a repeat performance later.

This morning I would have said being 3-5 down would have been good for Wilson; but the way ROS played Wilson needed at least parity.

Before the start I was thinking Wilson would win 10 or under Frames, and I see no reason to change.

Ronnie plays on needing five snookers on the brown, and proceeds to pot brown, blue and pink and attempt the black... :?

Anyway, Wilson has successfully avoided the Parrott...

I keep swapping places with nevblake after almost each frame. Still a chance, but I can't see Ronnie being as loose again tomorrow.

It seems Ronnie's mind is in a very delicate place at the moment, a couple of times yesterday afternoon I thought he was going to jack frames in early.

If his cue action plays him up early doors, and he starts getting hard on himself, Wilson could have a chance.

However, I think it's far more likely he comes out like a train, and takes the session 6-2/7-1

Not a clue what his Mental Ill health is about, but normal service is resumed, and the gulf in class between the old bods plus Trump and the rest is highlighted again.....

The gulf in class that led to Trump, Higgins, Williams and Robertson not even making the last four?

A number of players have lost their first final heavily, put it down to experience and then come back a couple of years later and win it. Every chance of Wilson following that pattern.

Big congrats go to nevblake, who came a very respectable 3rd overall (and who would have also won the singles knockout cup if I hadn't tried something different). Also congrats to the inaugural knockout doubles champions, Johnners & Rick Spangle.

See you next year.

Still time to enter the 2020/21 Final table premier league prediction competition. viewtopic.php?f=32&t=132433
