3 of the 4 players who picked up 5 points last week do exactly the same as Coetzee finishes 3rd.

SamD's good run comes to an abrubt halt with Fleetwood failing to cope with the undulating greens at Winged Foot.

Some blarney
Safe choice would be returning Irish hero and 8-1 favourite, Shane Lowry, who also seems to be popular with fellow contestants in this round of LMS. But he's switching continents, like third favourite Ryan Fox, both after so-so results at US Open. Second favourite George Coetzee has alreay been a selection, like three others whose odds are 30-1 to 40-1.

Shortlist therefore narrows down to last week's winner Garrick Higgo and two with excellent top ten form recently, Laurie Canter and John Catlin. But both have also missed one cut in last six weeks, and I can't risk that.

So shall go against polarbear's warning last month about a winner tending to MC on next outing...

Trio in shortlist last week included winner John Catlin; unfortunately, I plumped for Garrick Higgo, the previous week's champ.
Of the top 17 golfers (ie priced between 10-1 and 40-1) at East Lothian today, I've selected eight during 2020.
Final three this time are:
defending champion Bernd Wiesberger, picked by two still standing; Romain Langasque, third in 2019; and Matt Wallace, joint 14th last year alongside Matt Fitzpatrick (who this time is 10-1 joint favourite and the selection of another two LMS contestants).
Shall go with 22-1 Matt from Hillingdon.

Have already picked nine of the 23 who start at odds between 10-1 to 50-1 at Wentworth, including favourite Tommy Fleetwood. Of remaining 14, am discounting next two in betting, Pat Reed, 11-1, and Tyrell Hatton, 16-1, as they're both travelling from America to face different conditions. Justin Rose, 18-1, Shane Lowry, 25-1, and Lee Westwood, 33-1, have seemed inconsistent during past few weeks.

So, shortlist comprises Matt Fitzpatrick, 16-1, who's had Scottish event to acclimatise following his return from US, and two others with good recent form, Aaron Rai, second and first over last fortnight, and Rasmus Hojgaard at 45-1, who finished second, sixth and third before winning an August event. Since lockdown, several have proved capable of similar consistent runs immediately before and after a win, eg one of my previous selections, George Coetzee, who posted 2-1-1-3 sequence, and John Catlin, 1-8-1 in Sept.

Shall therefore plump for Rai, 40-1, partly as a differential because another Fison is on Fitzpatrick. Can already imagine polarbear practising an I-told-you-so spiel on avoiding the previous week's champion...
