FISO ISO 2019/2020
As promised I'll get the new season kicked off then.. ISO 2019-20 is on and everybody on here is welcome to join .
Last year's champ was Nbbbee10 who has the honour of picking the final starting line up (and first overhaul line up in Sept). I'll stick his final line up here once he's decided it, I've also set up the mini league (details below).
If you're keen to play give us a nod and get your team in the mini-league. Please make sure you read the guff below before entering, just so we're all on the same page with the rules, team name etc. If you have any questions, don't be shy, fire away.
Introduction to the game:
The rules of ISO are very simple. Every participant starts with the same (agreed) team line-up, and must make the same (agreed) selection and captain choice over the first day of fixtures. After the first kick off everybody is free to make transfers as they wish until the first overhaul.
From then onwards, everyone manages their own team as they like, until the first overhaul in September when we will all revert again to the same (new) team selection and captain choice for the first post overhaul day of fixtures.
After this it's a free for all, with everyone managing their team as they wish. In May we will see who has managed their transfers best, and who has won ISO 2019/20.
By tradition, the starting (and first overhaul) team is decided by the previous year's ISO winner and following a process of discussion and debate amongst entrants, criticised and changed until a final 11 is settled on.
Also by tradition Teams should be called "ISO <username>" (eg. ISO Northernmonkey), it's one team per person. Teams should be in the league by the first weekend.
All teams need to be set to public so we can see each others team (obviously in the unlikely circumstances that someone is on the verge of winning the overall sky tournament then of course it would be prudent to take your team private).
Fiso ISO is free to enter and open to everyone and new entrants are most welcome, good natured banter and mind games are to be expected.
ISO Hall of fame:
The competition started back in the good old days of TFFO, then migrated to OFL in 2010, then on to sky in 2017. There's a fine pedigree of previous champions, including some who've done exceedingly well in the overall main competition. The best ever achievement for an ISO team was Marke192, he was piped in the final week of the season to finish runner up overall in 2013-14.
2018-19 Nbbbee10
2017-18 coleridge
2016-17 coleridge (last OFL winner)
2015-16 Northernmonkey

2013-14 Marke192 (and 2nd in the overall standings)
2012-13 Skip
2011-12 Fat Skier

2009-10 Reds363 (last winner from the TFFO days)
FISO ISO MINI LEAGUE

Cheers for doing this Nm, not sure all of the last paragraph was strictly necessary though
As i just pointed out on the other thread Targett to Guilbert would free up money to improve the midfield.
Oh and also per the other thread, note the changes re points for motm, saves and shots on goal.

Villa fans are raving about him, albeit against Walsall. At £4.5m though this year's Yann Valery!

Sky allow 2 free teams, so if you've only used 1 then you'll be fine to create another on same username (just different team name ISO Rodduz)

Excellent. Welcome Rodduz and welcome back Evvy.
Loving your Guilbert suggestion Coleridge.
With the cash upgrading Basham to a decent midfielder (Jota/Tielemens/Maddison/Fraser?)

Yep any of the above work for me, although I'd be a little more circumspect re Jota with the bloke they are trying to sign from Milan (whose name escapes me atm) potentially coming in and of course euro Thusday night footy too.
Is JWP a nailed on starter? If so great, if not Mcginn who scored two yesterday or Fornals who was great in the euro under 21's are both relatively cheap.
Happy with Rashford if he is fit, but always strikes me as a bit of a sicknote. I realise Man Utd cover is essential, so our old friend AWB is another option.

Re: FISO ISO 2019/2020
A couple of issues with Guilbert, first of all Elmohamady returned from international duty and started the game at Charlton, also his price at £4.5 million means he's the cheapest defender in the game, great if he does start but if not it would necessitate two transfers to replace him.
The reasoning behind my selection of Basham is his value and bonus point potential for tackling as he plays in a back 3 for Sheffield United, without the risk of minus points.
A question for Hornet boy, am I correct in assuming you are a Watford fan, if so do you think Dawson will be in the Watford starting 11. Watford are generally solid and Dawson always scored a few goals from set pieces over the course of the season at West Brom
I think JWP seems to be nailed on, his figures from last season were impressive a goal every 3 games, he takes set pieces as well and averaged over 4.5 points per game last season. Having said all that Southampton do start the season with two away games and matches at home to Liverpool and Man Utd, with the overhaul he could be brought in after that.
In terms of freeing up some budget, Rashford to Martial frees up £1.2 million, that leaves £1.9 million to upgrade Targett, either to a midfielder and start 3-4-3 or another defender.

Re: FISO ISO 2019/2020
nbbbee, interested in why you chose the team structure you did. I think there is a good case for putting a lot more money in defence. I was pretty successful in the latter part of last season captaining Van Dijk and Laporte who scored more reliably than the big money attackers.

Re: FISO ISO 2019/2020
You are correct about my team. I am as certain as can be that the number 1 pairing will be Dawson and Cathcart, with Kabasele (although there are rumours he could be off) and Mariappa as backups.nbbbee10 wrote:A question for Hornet boy, am I correct in assuming you are a Watford fan, if so do you think Dawson will be in the Watford starting 11. He is in my other team and will stay there unless Gracia says anything to hint that he won't be first choice.
The only caveat is that he does sometimes rotate in defence, but having said that Cathcart almost always plays when fit, and I expect and hope the same will be true of Dawson.

Re: FISO ISO 2019/2020
Well argued Nbbbee .
Re Guilbert, if he didn't start I think you would just hold on to the overhaul rather than burn transfers, not that I'm advocating him if he's not a starter, deffo one to keep an eye on though. Another to keep an eye on might be Johnson at West ham who has got a lot of pre season game time.
Any thoughts on using AWB as alterative Man Utd coverage.

Villa fans seen to like Guilbert; I expect him to start, but as Nbbbee says there is no easy transfer it not. At 4.5 I'm taking the risk with my other side, but it is a gamble

Welcome tenpinterry
Aldershot rejects I see what you mean with your name being to long for sky. Being pretty lazy I'm always eager to abbreviate peoples names, so reje it is then
For my sins I've just watched West aam v Hertha Berlin, a few things to note: Johnson (4.9m) started again, Haller a goal and two assists, Lanzini scored for the second game in a row and Fornals also scored.

Laporte is potential injured, so another to keep an eye on.
KWP @ Spurs now looking potentially interesting for the first four, due to injuries, departures and suspensions.

Up to Nbbbee but we normally finalise straight after the charity shield, saving the last week for any surprises.
Laporte is just a knock I think so fingers crossed

I reckon Tuesday evening would seem sensible given the circumstances, but as you say it's up to Nbbbee.
So you gonna set up a tenner league on the side then Nm?
Nbbbee don't forget to tell us who to captain the first weekend.

Re: FISO ISO 2019/2020
I will look to finalise the team by Tuesday evening.
What are people's thoughts on Rashford - Martial to free up funds for replacements for Targett and James Ward Prowse.
Just had a brief look, Rashford to Martial allows Targett - Zinchenko and then James Ward Prowse - Deulofeu with 0.2 m left in the bank or Jota with 0.1 m left over.
I have a feeling Zinchenko will be this year's Laporte in that he established himself as a starter for Man City in the run in as Laporte did the previous season.
Regarding the Kyle Walker-Peters suggestion, he is a player I like but Spurs have to play away to Man City and Arsenal, so don't see potential clean sheets there.

Re: FISO ISO 2019/2020
Also liking the Martial and Zinchenko moves.
I also wonder if we can squeeze more from the Pulisic/Basham combo, loving Pulisic but he’s pricey being so new to the prem, while Basham is a likely 2 pointer (though agreed bonus potential - with a yellow to boot).
Ross Barkley!? Surely he has to start, a strong pre-season further forward and largely on set pieces (Willian out). He’d save £2.1m over Pulisic, enabling a decent upgrade of Basham (Rodri/Maddison/Deulofeu/Tielemens..)

Absolutely
Anyone fancying a sidebet £10 league (ISO teams only) I’ve created one.
League name ISO tenner
Pin 8443101
1st prize 75% and 2nd is 25%
If you have any probs entering let me know, there’s a password I can pm if necessary. All a bit weird as it let me set up a £10 prize league with my team entered but it didn’t ask for any cash yet
For the main free ISO league use the details in the opening post of this thread (8 in so far with some new faces - more the merrier so get involved )

I agree that the team is better, also agree re Basham. I' m also happier with Jota now that Jiminez has picked up a knock.
I'll wait and see how everyone lines up over the weekend then throw my final two penneth worth in.
