  1. 180 points twice in two years
  2. 8.0 (a 0.5 price cut from the last time he came off a 180 point season)
  3. 5th most BPs in midfielders last season
  4. Born in Reykjavík
  5. He met an Indonesian boy named after him in Bali this summer
  6. Everton have strong looking fixtures to start and finished the season well last year.
Also a very popular pick in a lot of RMTs, does he have any real negatives? As in my drafts he more or less competes in a space with Vardy (who Siggy is 1.0 cheaper than) and possibly Wilson, but yet somehow I never quite feel compelled to keep him in the side despite him looking a really good option.

I want him in my team but just not to start with and my only reason is because i will have the frustrating Richarlison instead, not because he is a better player long term as last season holding onto was my worse choice, but simply because the last 2 seasons he seems to get off to a flyer and then drop off the boil, so im hoping for a similar situation this season but where i can jump off him at the right time

VAR should help him if he can score the penalties. He scored 2 and missed 3 last season in the league. Are we sure he will keep taking them?

For such an accomplished dead ball specialist he's surprisingly bad at penalties. Usually gives them far too much welly. Needs to tone down the welly a bit.

That said, he's in my team and he will likely stay there.

The only possible reason for ignoring him would be a structural thing. I reckon he is a perfect set and forget

He can't go in mine, need 30pts a million out of players so he's overpriced for my team.

Interesting approach, seems very ambtious - Siggy's points tally for 6.0, 135 points for a base price midfielder?

I suspect only the triple threat defenders (clean sheets, assists and 2700+ minutes) are going to satisfy that criteria!

Yes, but at the moment it falls over with strikers. I'd need someone like Vardy to score 270pts

But then i can't get my mids to hit 30pts a million.

I've gone 5-2-3 with Salah and Sterling and they will need to go 50/50 with the armband to hit 30pts a million.

I've put my team in the RMT section.

That used to be my assumption too, turns out it is wrong. Because Salah scores much more heavily against weaker opposition, you can hit his target by captaining him more like 33% of the time.

Your target for Salah is 375.

He is a 7 points per match player, so you can expect him to score about 266.
For his best 12 fixtures he should average closer to 10 points per game. 120 points doubled = 240 points
For the games you do not captain him he will score about 266 minus 120 = 146 points
240 plus 146 = 386 points. Ta da. You hit your target and armbanded him less that 33% of the time.

Similar logic is also true for Sterling, leaving you with 14 more armbands to spare.

You are welcome 8-)

Thanks, i did wonder about targetting "easy" matches but then i just assumed that if i got it wrong a few times then in the end it would even out.

Go check out the table in my thread which has average points by fixture type for all the top players (from actual data last season). Should help

Plus he hasn't really been playing that much. He started the first two games, but then he was dropped and hasn't played a minute since.

You aren't alone in entertaining Richarlison to start with. I possibly might give it until GW6 before looking at changing it up.

Kept him in my team for all of last season. At times it was annoying seeing Digne take set pieces and Siggy missing penalties! However, I don't think I ever benched him either. In my mind if Everton are against top 6 opposition then any goal they get is most likely to involve him in some capacity. That justifies his selection and he is a good captain choice a few times over the season.

I don't have the points from each game in front of me, so can only base this comment on goals scored. I agree with the above, but why stop at the best 12 fixtures? Taking my attempt at predicting final league placings before last season (we cannot know for sure the bottom half in advance), Salah scored 19 of his 22 league goals against the bottom 10 teams (10 at home and 9 away, so pretty balanced).

Why not extend the logic and captain him for his best 20 fixtures?

Perhaps there is a solid answer to that. Perhaps captaining Salah so many times means there are not enough prime fixtures left for captain 2 to warrant his price?

Sterling's goals as I recall are more biased towards home fixtures but with far more chance than Salah against stronger sides - making him tougher to select games for. And of course he will get rotated a bit (against weaker sides I suspect). But looking at this season coming I can see 14 of the remaining games (after Salah's 20) where Sterling makes sense.

So perhaps the issue goes beyond that and back to the initial debate, in that someone like Siggy is almost impossible to captain as there are no games left, so if picking Salah and Sterling there is a problem making anyone else 8m and above fulfil their value.

Above based on just last season's observations so the usual disclaimers etc ... but it looks like a decent plan to me, especially as there seems to be quite a lot of options in the 6-7m bracket who could come close to whatever points targets people are using. I certainly have Siggy on my shortlist, because I do not see him coming too far short of target, and with so many players not reaching target he remains fairly high on my pick list.

Thanks for showing me how to do a list, I dread to think how many years I've been in here ....

On the plus side if he plays against Vic then he'll wreck them on the minus side he is more consistent then the more streaky Richarlison, which is why the latter wins, imho. But for a seasin long type thing the spiders would tip the scales in Ziggy's favour.
