There had to be a token member of the England team that came within a nano-millimetre of their first meaningful trophy since 1966, as well…

Normally they boost the number of options in an Olympic year. The Kennys can consider themselves particularly unlucky to miss out on the shortlist (maybe they need a Sporting Couple of the Year award…)
It's crazy that Jason Kenny doesn't even make the last 6 🤷‍♂️

Yeah, became Britain’s top Olympian of all time. I’d have had him in the top three, even if his race was on at stupid o’clock UK time.

Totally agree.

I also think Karsten Warholm should be in the overseas category. Would imagine that should go to Tom Brady.

Who was the last non-UK-born winner? I was going to say Greg Rusedski (back in the days when you won it for being a brave runner-up), but actually it was that Belgian cyclist I think ;)

And he’s not a cyclist. Don’t think he’s ever won SPOTY either (somehow)…

Actually he did win it. But not the most recent overseas-born winner… we’re not going back far at all in fact.

Quick question....

Last 2 have been won by Stokes and Hamilton. Other than them.... who was the last English born winner?

Forgot about Cavendish as another notable omission. I’d now probably say two of my top three I’d pick are not on the list. Nominations committee clearly has something against cycling… and just why was the shortlist so short this year?

Why are the BBC running a Indian sportswoman of the year? This seems like peak neo imperialism. What is happening? Us Frenchies are a little confused. Please can somebody explain the reason why they are doing this.

Why don’t you explain to everyone why it bothers you that BBC Hindi honour Indian sportsmen and women?

The only way it bothers me is if it is paid for by UK licence fees.

(You can add the whole of World Service etc to that when are cutting local news and keep threatening 6 Music etc because of the need for 'cuts').

Why does that bother you? I’ll go out on a limb and say hundreds of thousands of Indians also pay their license fee.

An open goal tidily tucked away

Is it for a British Indian or all?

It is a little strange when the Brits have zapped the male\female divide.

And then Adele said how great it is to be a woman. Sort of confused the whole gender not gender thing totally.
