Season 2022/2023

Post by goooner »

Recap from previous seasons
2018/19 pts 2457 rank 1280
2019/20 pts 2312 rank 37429
2020/21 pts 2382 rank 120010
2021/22 pts 2472 rank 151341

Obvious my Tactics havnt improved my ranks (even points inflation).
Will try to do it a little bit different this season and NOT do any defensive transfers unless someone is injured.

I also think this year were going to see even more rotation - with upcoming WC and that all teams increasing there squads with Quality players.
I think that also Salah, Kane e.g. Will get more rests.
So for me its important that everyone Are a fairly ”safe” starter

First draft
Sanchez / Steele
- good GK pair but not sure about Brighton defence

Van Dijk, James, TAA, Cancelo, Perisic
- probably a template double up on Pool defence.
6-7 CS on there first 9 games isnt impossible.
- James injury prone but offensive
- Cancelo alot of minutes
- Perisic (hes a winger so why not)

Imo that defence would not need any changes and should be nailed on most of the time.
4/5 players with ownerships over 42% so farely safe.
TAA for that extra CS bonus vs TAA owners

Mount, Martinelli, Ward Prowse, Neto, Murphy
- Mount did it great last season, expecting another 170 pts season and for 8 mil thats great
- Martinell is the cheapest option into Arsenal offence, should start most games but probably be subbed out each game aswell.
- ward prowse, again expecting 150+ points and on penalties
- neto, good price point for attacking player
- murphy, benchwarm

Haaland, Jota, Jesus
-Haaland, expecting alot of goals and Will be my Main captain (also over Salah)
- Jota, 175 points last season and expecting hon to do Even better this season
- Jesus , im curious so Will need to try him out for first few

Jesus probably my ”backup” fund raiser if needed.
Martinelli could be Bruno in Newcastle (for a more safe starter)

From first draft early July alot changed.
Probably Will start with a 4-4-2 formation and team ideas so far looks like:

GK (unsecure)- Steele (4,0)

TAA (7,5) - Cancelo (7,0) - D3 (5,0) - D4 (6,0/5,0/4,5) - Williams (4,0)

Salah (13) - Diaz (8,0) - M3 (6,5/7,0/7,5/8,0) - Martinelli (6,0) - Perreira (4,5)

Kane (11,5) - Jesus (8,0) - Greenwood (4,5)

Alternatives
D3: Cash/Trippier D4: Zinchenko M3: Sancho GK: 4,5

D3: Cash/Trippier/Zinchenko D4: Dalot/White M3: Mahrez GK: 4,5

If M3 = Couthino (7,0) GK = Ederson (5,5)
If M3 = Grealish (7,0) D4 = 5,0/5,5 or GK 5 / 5,5
If M3 = Rashford (6,5) D4 = 5,0 and GK Ederson (5,5)
If M3 = Rashford (6,5) D4 = James (6,0)

And so on. The M3 spot Will be most important for team structure for GK/D3/D4
I Will try to avoid Neto (5,5) and Bailey (5,0) from start and instead use them as potential extra 0,5/1,0 if needed and jump on bandwagoon.

I Will start with Kane and it can be a potential Haaland transfer for GW 2 (depending on M3 situation). But Will need to have Kane vs SOU.

Salah as C vs Fulham. Diaz as a cover if I want to go No Salah (for example hop on KDB or Son before WC).

I expect Martinelli to start all games and be a key player for Arsenal this season. Value of 6,0 its a bargain.

Regarding M3 spot preffered would be A city player or a man united player.

Transfering M3 spot also gives som Flexibiliy.

For me its important to keep 4,0 + 4,5 spots. This Will probably be same on a WC so cant afford any price raises on starting budget players

I started to analyse him a little bit more so maybe im little biased. Will need to look more also at the 6 mill pricepoint / M4 (if I can benefit greatly for example with Neto/BrunoG).
Example use Zinchenko at 5 mil (stay at 2 Ars players), Neto + afford Mahrez without downgrade defence to 4,5. (Then again maybe longterm there Are a 4,5 defender nailed that isnt much downgrade for offensive points - looks like a 5,0. Maybe Dalot).

But For start ESR Hasnt played in preseason so Martinelli should start first few and be pretty secure up to first WC imo.
Always a rotation risk but longterm I think Martinelli is a more ”direct” player and better 1vs1 and that what Arsenal needs on the wings (compare also with Saka with same qualities).

Meanwhile ESR can play as LW, RW and Even sub with Ødegaard in a more central role. Also sub with Jesus so ESR is a better ”bench” player to make an impact when subbed on.
ESR playing style suits more as a no 8 with box-to-box play and link ups. A Gerrard type. More than a LW.

Now Arteta also has Nketiah with a new Contract and no 14. So I expect him to play LW (sub with Martinelli) and CF (sub with Jesus).
And also with Zinchenko we May see him play LW and move Martinelli up front.

I think Martinelli Will be a starter, but subbed Every game (as almost everyone in hos pricepoint - Bailey, Neto etc.)

I think with the five sub rule this season a lot more players will be substituted, even the likes of Salah and Kane could be at risk.

Good summary on Martinelli, he's in my team.
As a gooner myself, I have three Arsenal players.
I am expecting us to finish at least top four.

After CS game and other friendlies there been Some tweaks of my team.
I also thinking of a very early WC (GW 3 or GW 4). Im not sure im able to hold a WC longer than that will potential bandwagons and my fomo. Also i got some more info overall.

Out: Diaz In: Robertson
Simply because of Robertsons form, and think he Will take more points than Diaz. Robertson were exceptional vs City and Liverpool defence looks solid overall.

So that also means little bit different setup.

5,0 GK - Steele

TAA (7,5) , Cancelo (7,0), Robertson (7,0) D4 (5,0 / 6,0) Williams (4,0)

Salah (13,0), M2 (7,0 / 8,0), Bailey (5,0), Martinelli (6,0), Perreira (4,5)

Kane (11,5), Jesus (8,0), Greenwood (4,5)

In: Bailey
Started preseason very good in Villa. played in every game. 3 goals and 1 assist.
I think he also can make difference from the bench. Also ive read its been talks that if hes in form gerrad May use him as no 8 with 2 strikers. Not so sure About that but who knows.
In 20/21 he had 15 goals and 11 assist for Leverkusen in 40 games. He may represent value for 5 m.
With Villas first 2 fixtures vs bou and EVE hes worth a punt.
Also, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall emerged as a potential exit stratergy. My early WC also an exit stratergy.

With those 2 changes i have left to decide

GK, D4, M2 (yet again 3 pos) but narrowed down alternatives

Alternative 1)
Ramsdale, James, Couthino
Covers Arsenal defence and Ramsdale is a good shot stopper aswell. James because i think i would want him longterm, hes over 40% owned and potential vs eve and lee in first 3 GWs.
Couthino because of nailedness and bou / EVE
Also 18,5 ownership.
Potential to switch to Grealish or Rashford
Negative side i give up a 8 m spot - but im a little unsecure of who to Get atm so can wait with that for early WC.

Alternative 2)
Mendy, Zinchenko, Mount
8 m spot in Mount that I do think Are a good offensive asset. Mendy to cover CS for James, Zinchenko.

Alternative 3
Ederson, Zinchenko, Sancho
Defensive double up on City - and also Pool. With nailed players.
Sancho looks atm to be best option in United.
Could also be Couthino with 0,5 in bank or Rashford (with James instead of Zinchenko).

Also regarding GKs. Im not so sure i fancy any 4,5 GKs atm. Have a hard time to choose.
I probably just stick with either Ramsdale, Mendy or Ederson for now and keep The possibilty to switch to best 4,5 option on early WC.

Regarding Walker for 5,0.

Is it crazy to punt om him instead of Cancelo. That could fit in a 8,0 mid while keeping Robertson and James. WC around GW 4-5.

4,5 / 4,0
TAA, Robertson, James, Perisic, Walker
Salah, Martinelli, 8,0 (mount/foden/mahrez)
Haaland / Jesus

Depending, can either use Bailey as sub + 4,5 GK or Ramsdale + 4,5 mid.

Im interested to do Mount to one of The City mids in GW to try benefit from The BOU fixture but also think James and Mount can be real good value va eve.
Optimal The best would be to do city mid transfer GW1, because of a higher chance to win i pep Roulette.

I Went with Foden in midfield and Haaland.
Standard 69 points.
So no Transfers for GW 2. C on Haaland.

Ideas going forward:

Short term I think of 3 transfers GW 3
Robertson -> Walker
Foden -> DaSilva
Archer -> Darwin

I then have 1.0 to play with for GW 4 (or 0,8 if price raise on Darwin/DaSilva)

Optimal I would not want Walker because hes not that offensive, but would want 3 city playes and their CS chance Are so high. And 5 m is a fair price also for rotation (if covered).

Will probably need to carry Bailey until a WC.

Long term ( maybe WC).

Playing with different Structures

5-2-3 -with Salah/Martinelli and 2 5m defendes -

4-3-3 with Salah/Martinelli + rotate 3D mid with Perreira/DaSilva/Bailey and upgrade GK

4-4-2 with Salah, no Darwin with 2 8m midfields spots

4-3-3 no Salah, no Cancelo with KDB and a 8m midfieldspot

Think it can be valid to try without Salah after GW 4 (BOU) and perm C on Haaland.

Salah and KdB have same expected points
