2018 SBru PLP SPRING Cup - week 3 results ...
Hi All ... heads up for your diaries
This years SPRING CUP will commence on the 1st week in February - week 20
As with the Winter Cup, this is an 8 week league competition with the top 8 competitors going through to Quarter Finals in week 32 - 2nd April, followed by Semi Finals & Finals.
Everybody who signed up for the Winter Cup will be automatically entered into the Spring Cup.
Anybody who missed out on the Winter Cup earlier is welcome to sign up for the Spring Cup.
Just apply to join the league in SuperBru. Password is " ".
One rule became necessary to avoid draws in the Knockout stages, as follows:
If there is a draw (in a SuperBru Head to Head match) during the knockout stages, there will be a countback based on:
1) the individual's WP (win Points) of that week
2) the individual's MP (margin Points) of that week
If the two teams are still tied after that, then the countback will be based on:
3) the combination of WP and MP in the last match of the fixture until one of the two teams scores higher than the other.
For the Historians amongst you:
2015 SPRING CUP Winner was LawroSez - link to the competition thread is here
2014 SPRING Cup Winner was Murf - link here

Re: 2016 SBru PL Predictor - SPRING Cup - commences week 24 - 2nd Feb
Well the SPRING CUP is off to a quick start with week 1 and week 2 happening in the same week.
My reporting was slightly delayed as I had to figure what to do about the no show of one or two contestants.
After they failed to appear in both weeks I have decided it is easier to exclude them from the cup rather than substitute them each week.
In the SuperBru "Head to Head" fixture list that I use for this cup, I have substituted "Average Joe" for each no show.

Re: 2016 SBru PL Predictor - SPRING Cup - commences week 24 - 2nd Feb
This is my third time updating this, as I've discovered changes to SuperBru's scores for this week on three occasions now ... I'll have to delay scoring for each week to give them adequate time to finalise their scores.
Week 3 showed us nothing is easy in this comp: only Moist von Lipwig retains an unbeaten record ...
when I revisited SuperBru to get the results for week 4-5 I discovered adjusted results for week 3, which I have now updated & replace the old screenshots.
And the revised League Table looks as follows:
Big mover of the week is Scumbucket, up 6 spots after trashing Average Joe, who stood in for LawroSez (nice one)

Week 5 provided an upset for the new leader ... Ireland's Call who got dizzy from the sitting in top spot & stumbled ...
Moist von Lipwig struck back & retook the leadership ...

Week 6 ... Moist von Lipwig blows away the opposition again ... bad luck, Tenpinterry,
And the revised League Table looks as follows:
With two weeks left before the knockout stages on this Cup its squeaky bum time ... its only the top 8 qualify, and with small groups on the same points, it may well come down to goal difference ... top 14 could still qualify for the knockout stages ...

Apologies for the lengthy delay ... playing catch up over the weekend
Week 7 ... was full of surprises with Moist von Lipwig, Stokie Bloke and Rookster all losing matches and Rookster even falling out of the top 8,

The Final week, Week 8 in the League stages ... saw Fozzman, Royee and Ireland's Call all losing matches and in the top 8, but luckily still managing to qualify for the knockout stages. McBear was not so lucky, with his loss dropping him out of the top 8 and being replaced by MickMacP (who rarely does well in this comp)
And Final League Table is below:
Knockout stages will follow this weekend ... I'll post the draw asap.

SPRING Cup Quarter Finals results were as follows ...
Not all top seeds got through, with royee beating fozzman in a very close match ...
Stokie Bloke also pulled through in a very close match (bad luck to both losers)
whereas Moist von Lipwig and murf hammered their opponents

Re: 2016 SBru PL Predictor - SPRING Cup - commences week 24 - 2nd Feb
SPRING Cup FINAL is here at last!!! ... matches are to be played this weekend, 16th April
But firstly, the results of the Semi Finals ...
Leaving us with the FINAL matchup of #1 seed versus #2 seed ... couldn't have asked for a better lineup ... Good luck to ye both !!
murf the holder has a strong grip on the cup, but Moist von Lip fancies his chances ... ONE IMPORTANT CHANGE ...
Because SuperBru's Head to Head scoring is set up where one competitor plays another I've discovered an anomaly, so I'm changing the scoring system for the final and all future versions of this comp. The scores will no longer be based on the Head to Head scores, but instead based on your Win Points and Margin Points (WP and MP scores combined). This is reflected in the screenshot of the Semi Final scores, where the Head to Head scores are in between the two competitors (MvL 9-4 Royee) where the more accurate score (WP+MP) is directly below their names (MvL 11.75 - 6.75 Royee).
It makes a difference, believe me ... Good luck, all!!

we're also 1st and 2nd in the league too.... this has the potential to be a classic
and will probably turn out to be about as entertaining as the 96 FA cup final.

Re: 2016 SBru PL Predictor - SPRING Cup - commences week 24 - 2nd Feb
SPRING Cup FINAL - HALF Time
I had to look WAAAAAY down the scoreboard to find the half time scores from our two intrepid competitors of this years SPRING Cup Final ...
a VERY cagey start by both competitors, but murf is showing true grit in an attempt to hang on to his title, leading by a narrow margin ...
murf took a point out of the Newcastle win and 1.25 points from the Liverpool win ...
Moist von Lipwig needs to show some of the form that he has demonstrated over the earlier weeks of this competition ...
I would have liked to post the remaining predictions to see where the differences lay, but Moist hasn't locked his predictions yet and murf is shy about even posting them ...
6 matches remain ... Good luck all!! ...

SPRING Cup FINAL - 60 mins in ...
murf is taking a completely professional approach to this match, having clawed himself a lead in the first half ...
with all of murf's 11 players sitting in his goalmouth, Moist von Lipwig is finding it exceedingly difficult to get back into the game ...
The engravers have gone out on a limb, and have engraved the letter "m" on the cup ....
The sharper of you will have noticed that it is a lower case "m" rather than an upper case "M" ....
hopefully they don't have to start afresh ...
C.mon, Moist ... stick in some incredibly silly predictions & you never know your luck

SPRING Cup FINAL
As anticipated, once murf got his nose in front in this Final, he closed off the match by managing to match Moist von Lipwig's ... predictions perfectly over the last 4 matches ... quite an achievement, in the spectacularly unpredictable nature of recent premiership results ... and therefore Moist von Lipwig was unable to close the gap.

Re: 2016 SBru PL Predictor - SPRING Cup - commences week 24 - 2nd Feb
Welcome to the 4th Year of the FISO SuperBru SPRING Cup 2017
Previous winners were:
2016 : murf
2015 : LawroSez
2014 : murf
This will be, as in previous years, an 8 week Head to Head campaign with fixtures drawn by SuperBru.
The First round starts week 24 : 4th February.
The Top 8 after week 31 : 4th April will qualify for the knockout stages over the following 3 weeks ...
with Quarter Finals on 8th April, Semi Finals 15th and Final on 22nd April.
As a reminder to myself: ONE important rule change from last year:
The scoring system will no longer be based on the Head to Head scores, but instead will be based on your Win Points and Margin Points (WP and MP scores combined).
Good luck all!!

Re: 2017 SBru PLP SPRING Cup - Holder: Murf - kicks off week 24: 4th February
round 1 of the Spring Cup snuck by without me reporting on it (sorry about that). As in previous years, the fixtures are taken straight from SuperBru's Head to Head fixtures within our Spring Cup league, commencing with week 24 but the scores are not. As a reminder to myself as much as anyone else I introduced a new scoring system last year (combined WP & MP as it is a fairer reflection on the actual predictions). The results are below:
There were two no shows (Shafty & Mr Creosote) this week so Lano23 had to be lined up against me (MickMacP), otherwise predictions were as in SuperBru.
The results of week 24 are below:
and the Table reflecting those results is as follows:
I should be less forgetful with Round 2 (which still has to-morrow - Monday's match - still to be played)
Purely to show the difference that using SuperBru's Head to Head scoring would have had on the leaderboard (rather than WP+MP):
I will continue with the WP+MP scoring system. Much better/fairer.

Re: 2017 SBru PLP SPRING Cup - Holder: Murf - kicks off week 24: 4th February
Currently my Laptop is in the Doctors, having suffered a seizure.
Once it returns to work (becomes available) hopefully I'll not have lost my most recent FF spreadsheet and I'll update the Spring Cup results.
Apologies for the delay, but its early enough in the competition not to matter.
Keep predicting!!
