In a new (to me) house, and found that heating was working well when moved in, but now downstairs radiators failing to heat, but upstairs working(ish)
So, I noticed the CH pump was on setting 2 of three - so boosted it up to number 3 and everything clattered into life and all the rads heated up. Put it back to two now.
If it wasn't working on 2, do you think that is a pump that has nearly had it? Have I introduced a lot of air into the system by running the pump hard (don't think so as rads mostly getting warm from the top)
Any thoughts? Should I leave the pump on 3 or is that running it too hard?
Any plumbers out there...

Try bleeding any air from the pump first, there should be a bleed screw on it somewhere, if no joy then I would hazard a guess that the pump is on its way out

Sometimes they need bleeding upstairs somewhere, but good luck finding where from.

The pump is fairly easy to get at, so I should be able to bleed it.
Could be an air block somewhere....
Thanks for your thoughts

Summer's over and a new (refurbished!) pump went in last week. Fingers crossed it lasts the winter!
