Thank you. It wasn't easy, I was driven hard by SamD, a big inspiration of mine. I think in the end the apprentice was just better than the old master over the course of the race.
I'd like to dedicate this win to all the people who believed in me, to the God I've never believed in and to R.Kelly for believing in seemingly impossible feats of human brilliance.

Finishing notes
Thanks for the contest, Spencer4. It helped nudge a now occasional punter to look at all 27 races and, by good fortune, back a few high-priced horses, notably Lac Fontana at 11/1 today. Along with Nicholls and Jacob, that win was worth 11 points and might have briefly worried the Fiso front-runners.
Many congratulations to:
- Herc6: trust you've now removed tongue from cheek to down a celebratory drink; that 7lb apprentice allowance is surely at risk, eh?
- GM, another worthy regular of various forum sports competitions. (Which reminds me, hope it's OK to mention that the 2014 Fiso golf prize marathon will be launching shortly.)
Finally, those looking for trends in the Cheltenham game might reconsider their Fiso IDs if these are unduly lengthy. It's surely no coincidence that entrants with monikers of five letters or fewer finished in the top three, besides Muddy, the day one leader, and Richt, last season's champion...
