Great expectations is possibly my favourite novel. Being a Kentish person, the setting of the north Kent marshes interests me, and the whole story of Pip and Estella is brilliant. Pip becomes a snob, seduced by London and becoming a gentleman, but realises what matters in the end as you say. Great book.

The recent TV series was filmed across the water in Essex!

Actually, I think there are a lot of similarities between estuary folk on both sides of the water. Anyway, I have ancestors from Orsett, Foulness Island and One Tree Island (Leigh on Sea) so either side is ok :wink:
