Yes, to celebrate the commencement of calendar year two thousand and fourteen, I bring you the start of the Premiership Predictions CL Stylee Cup
To participate in this cup all you need to do is enter as as explained below and then do your regular 'FISO Goals' Premiership Predictions for the league.
HOW TO SIGN UP
YOU MUST SIGN UP BY ENTERING THE MINILEAGUE IF YOU WANT TO PLAY!
You need to join the 'CL Stylee Cup' minileague
League ID = 34
Password: styleee (three 'e's)
(click on, in order: 'FISO Games' in the banner across the top, 'FISO Goals' in the dropdown menu, 'My minileagues' on the left, then fill in the 'Join a Minileague' with the details above)
Deadline = Set 21 (is that about the 11th?)
HOW IT WORKS
This and the other cups are effectively informal/unofficial side competitions run by me using scores in the formal/official FISO Goals competition.
Qualifying is necessary as, due to its group structure (8 groups of 4) we are strictly limited to 32 entrants.
20 people will 'Pre-Qualify' and the remaining 12 places will be fought over during 'Qualification'
(numbers subject to change if entry is disappointing)
PRE-QUALIFYING
The following qualify automatically (assuming they sign up):
1. CL Stylee Cup 2009/10 Winner (Big Bird) - yes he was the last (FISO Goals temporarily died during sign up 3 years ago)
2. Reigning Early Doors Cup winner (thebillfella)
3. Reigning Knockout Cup winner (steve foster or Ralfbergs - tba)
4. The top 17 (on season-long scores) other signed up players in the Qualifying minileague after Set 21 (or top 18,19 or 20 if those from 1,2, or 3 above don't sign up).
Tie-Break Rule - if there is a tie for 17th (etc) place then all teams level on this point score will be split based on set 21 scores then set 20 etc until resolved. Those missing out will go into Qualifying.
QUALIFYING (12 more teams get through)
The remaining 12 spots will go to the winners of the Qualifying Rounds (which need not concern the pre-qualified 20). These will be held over the matches held after from Set 22 to Set 24 and will be done as a 3 Set minileague.
Late entrants will be allowed to join Qualifying at any time BUT will only start scoring from the time they enter and announce themseleves on this thread.
Tie-Break Rule - if there is a tie for 12th place etc in Qualifying then all teams level on this point score will be split based on the Set 24 scores then Set 23 etc until resolved. [/size]
GROUP MATCHES - Sets 25-30
Once Qualifying is resolved the 32 qualified teams will be split into Pots as follows:
Pot A - the three champions and the 7 highest scoring pre-qualifiers
Pot B - The next 8 highest scoring pre-qualifiers
Pot C - The last 4 pre-qualifiers and the 4 top teams from Qualifying
Pot D - Teams 5-12 from Qualifying
One team from each pot, drawn at random, will go into each CL Stylee group.
In each group each team will play 6 group matches, home and away versus each other team, as per CL proper. Top 2 get through using UEFA CL tie-break rules where teams are level.
KNOCKOUT -
Sets 31, 33-37, two legged games (excluding miniset 32).
Set 38 = final.
Set 39 = possible replay
All ties except the final will be knockout over two legs, home and away. Away goals counts if there is a tie and then usual tie-breakers. All draws will be totally random using the black bag with two special guests doing the draw each week as per previous seasons.
SETS/DATES
SET 21 (start), 11 Jan - Deadline for entries
SET 21 (end), 13 Jan - Allocation of 20 automatic qualification places
SETS 2-24, Pre-qualifying league for remaining 12 places
SETS 25-30, CL Stylee group games (8 groups of 4)
SETS 31-36 - Knockout stages (last 16, QFs, SFs - all 2 legs)
SET 37 - Final
SET 38 - Final replay (if required)
note - Set numbers may change if they don't pan out like the Premiership weeks.
Newcomers (FISO veterans and newbies alike) more than welcome - but you'll need to enter by the deadline(s) to get in.
As this is my own private comp, I'll be reserving the right to not admit or throw out anybody who doesn't treat FISO properly and doesn't post in good spirit.
