I know what you mean, viddle. I moved Cahill out for Giggs during Transfergate and lost 8 points on the deal, so his injury for La Rep came as a softened blow to me.
Shameful joy .....

Current update on the injury situation for the squad:

Cahill out as we all know

Parker should be fine and looks to play

Barry is still a question and will get a late fitness test before the Wigan match. It'll come down to whether his back is loose enough at game time.

The Specialist threads have been updated for today so details, as always, can be found there....

Baines is out with a calf tear that he picked up during last week's England U-21 match. He looks to be out for a while.

Stefanovic is carrying a knee ligament injury. Redknapp said: 'Dejan's got a knee ligament injury – he's struggling with it

The Indepenent newspaper reports:

... Matt Taylor is still troubled by a virus, which could mean that the captain, Dejan Stefanovic, has to play on through the pain of a knee ligament injury.

Redknapp said: "Dejan shouldn't be playing. His knee is not right, but we only have Matty Taylor who can play left-back in his place, and Matty is not well."

The Serbian defender Stefanovic, 32, has come in for criticism - notably from Redknapp's assistant Tony Adams - for goals Pompey conceded against Manchester United, Fulham and Watford. But he has revealed he is playing at only 70 to 80 percent. He said: "Maybe people watching from outside don't know what is going on. The injury is not really bad but it's not good either. I had a scan last month and one on Monday.

"It's still the same, uncomfortable for jumping and sprinting. But I'm still hoping to get through three games in the next 10 days. The injury has definitely affected my performance in the past two games and if Matty Taylor is fit there is a question mark over whether I play."

AJ injured and did not play on Saturday. From Sporting Life:

Johnson's injury was a well-kept secret and it has emerged he sustained it in last week's 1-0 win over Bolton when he played the full 90 minutes. Everton's travelling fans were amazed to discover he was out of the game at The Valley.

Moyes seemed irritated when the subject of Johnson's injury was raised for a second time in an after-match press briefing. He said: "I think I have answered that one. I really don't know how long he will be out.

One of our recent players, Parker, just came off injured with a ribs problem. Good decision to sell last week![/b]

Stefanovic came off at half time, and he's due for a knee operation anyway. Looks like we have another player on his way out the door. :(

Confirmation today of this on Pompey's official site from Harry Redknapp:

"Dejan is going in for an operation today and we thought we might get one more game out of him at Newcastle but he is struggling with his injury."

Presumably he'll be out until Xmas at the earliest so it's time to ditch.

This is little more than unsubstantiated rumour but since we have AJ, I thought it was worth posting. Everton fans site suggests he has been ruled out for the game on Wednesday.

NSNO understands that the hamstring injury which prevented Andrew Johnson from playing against Charlton last Saturday has also ruled him out of Everton's trip to Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

Beattie and McFadden are favourites to lead the attack once more as Everton look to gain three points at Old Trafford for the first time in over ten years.

I still say we should hang onto him.

Confirmation that AJ misses Wednesday game however it is not thought of as a long-term injury:

EFC official site:

The Blues striker withdrew from the weekend clash with Charlton Athletic after picking up a hamstring injury and he is being assessed daily by the medical staff.

He has been ruled out for the game at Manchester United but the injury is not expected to keep the striker sidelined long-term.

Manager David Moyes revealed: "He did it in the Bolton game and tried to play on with it. We don't think it's too bad but it doesn't look as if he will play at United."

FFS... here we go again:

Arsène Wenger is waiting on the fitness of Thierry Henry ahead of the North London derby on Saturday.

The Arsenal captain has a problem with his sciatic nerve and tests will be conducted on Friday. Apart from that there were no new injuries in the defeat at Fulham on Wednesday.

“Thierry has to be assessed and we’ll make a decision on him tomorrow,” said Wenger in an exclusive interview with Arsenal TV Online on Thursday. “It is a problem with his sciatic nerve. Everybody else has come through the game well.”

Not an injury but a suspension  for Barry in the next gameweek (GW17) where he was due to play SU. This may colour our transfer discussions for the next gameweek.

arteta still out,
concern over micah richards dead leg.
even if they miss gw 18, they'll be back soon, and should, if everyone agrees :) be held on to.

Maybe on Arteta this week...

From today's Everton web site:
..Phil Neville, Mikel Arteta and Leon Osman are all pushing for a return to action following spells on the sidelines through injury. The trio have a chance of returning against Chelsea this weekend but head physio Mick Rathbone has revealed any decisions will be left very late and will be influenced by the knowledge the Toffees will face four games in eight days during the Christmas period.

He told evertonTV exclusively: "Ossie has got a hamstring injury. He is making good progress and he has got a chance for this weekend. It is very much the same situation with Mikel and Phil. They are all in the same boat in that they have a shout for Sunday but it depends on how hard we want to push them and what the repercussions may be with the Christmas period coming up. There is a lot to discuss and consider. There is an element of risk with anything you may do medically but you do not want to take an outrageous risk knowing that if it doesn't work out there are four games in eight days a player could miss. That is very much in the manager's mind."

Deffo leave Arteta on the bench. Sounds like a classic "come on for 1 minute at the end to prove his legs won't fall off" scenario!

Official Chelsea site says no John Terry or Carlo Cudicini for Boxing Day.

Assistant manager Steve Clarke says that Chelsea will have the same squad for the visit of Reading on Boxing Day as travelled to Wigan. So there is still no John Terry or Carlo Cudicini.

Darrent Bent is injured for four weeks, according to many media sources, including Sporting Life.

Arteta is banned for the next Premiership game - Everton official site.

Pamarot is out with a groin strain for at least two weeks and probably more - Daily Mail

Not an injury per se but the news is that Cech will be back for Chelsea in GW24, according to Mourinho. So we need to consider dumping Cudicini before long.

Further info on Noe Pamarot's injury from Pompey's official site, quoting club physio Gary Sadler:

"Noe's had a scan on his groin strain and he's got a substantial tear in one of his adductor muscles, so both our left-backs (*) are probably going to be out for the foreseeable future."

This is a shame as I was hoping he would only be out for a couple of weeks. I was the one who nominated him and I have him in my team also so it looks like I'm bringing my terrible luck with injuries this season to the LRdF side. Sorry!

(*) The other one being Dejan Stefanovic who needs more surgery, as explained in the article.

Niclas Anelka is a huge doubt with a dead leg.

I reckon we can get away with him being on the bench, this week at least. We should start him and let a sub come in if necessary, IMO.

It may be a classic case of friendlyitis or it may be something worse. Since the injury actually happened at Carrington, one has to fear the worst:

Chelsea defender Wayne Bridge has withdrawn from the England squad to face Spain at Old Trafford on Wednesday with a thigh injury.

In a move which could have serious consequences for Chelsea given Ashley Cole will miss most of the remainder of the campaign with a knee injury, Bridge limped out of training after just 15 minutes at Carrington. Bridge seemed certain to win his 25th cap at left-back but has now returned to Stamford Bridge for treatment, with Jose Mourinho no doubt desperately hoping the damage is not too serious.

Wigan Official Site:

Wigan's England international duo of Chris Kirkland and Leighton Baines have withdrawn from this week's games against Spain for the Senior and Under 21 sides respectively.

Chris Kirkland was at Christopher Park today to receive treatment on a slight shoulder injury, Paul Jewell describing the move as a 'precaution.' 'Chris should be fine for Arsenal at the weekend," said Jewell, "but he's been such an important figure for us this season that we're not in a position where we can take any risks.'

I know we don't have him but we are probably considering his purchase... Arsenal official site says Henry has a foot injury and won't play tomorrow (Wednesday) in the Cup replay at Blackburn.

Benni McCarthy was rested at the weekend. Unfortunately his replacement bagged a brace so we may see further possible rests.

Wayne Bridge played the Carling Cup final but Ashley Cole was on the bench so his place will soon be under threat.

There are rumours floating around of a Clichy injury but they are just rumours at the moment. Also rumours that Drogba could be charged by the FA with violent conduct.
