Ohmiabsolutegod how have I missed this?
I'm there tomorrow to check. I will assess their fibre content too, in order to reassure blahblah that they are authentic.

6 tins of Heinz for £2.50 delivered with Amazon at the moment = not Branston but guess you could make do.

£2.24 for a 4 pack Branston's at Amazon at the mo. The heady days of 74p for 6 seem a world ago.

Re: Baked bean wars
Why are beans, chocolate and crisps the things that have gone up massively in recent years?
This country runs on those three things (and tea).

Re: Baked bean wars
I think as the prices went up at start of Ukraine war these producers specifically kept their prices up citing other reasons aswell as fuel costs such as higher factory wages. I think a 4pack was £2 just pre Ukraine and other global causes. There's a Stockwell baked beans 28p in Tesco adequate but not the same taste as Heinz. May try the Aldi ones out of curiosity with a rare venture in there. I heard chocolate was facing supply problems recently. Only £650 on Ebay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/233939579182 ... SwAjlgIbuM

The Aldi ones have a lot of juice but I add tomato paste and bbq sauce so great for dipping bread or adding pasta.

The Heinz baked beans in Leclerc France have gone up from 1.40 euro to 1.90 a tin. Simply I don't buy them but some idiots still do.

Re: Baked bean wars
How much does a bowl of beans cost?
can of national brand pinto beans costs $1.59, a store brand can costs $1.19, and each provides 3.5-½ cup servings.

Pinto are a cut above whatever our baked beans are?
I think I saw 6 Branston for under £2 in Lidl the other day.

Re: Baked bean wars
20 years after this thread started..... I finally succumbed and tried some Branstons. They were pretty good, not necessarily better but not as runny as Heinz have become (in the intervening 20 years).
Heinz 5 Beans win with their normal ones a smidgen ahead of Branstons.
The price has also changed over 20 years. Over a quid a can!!. F-ing ridiculous.
Need to hint those offers. £2 for 4 Branston will taste nicer to this skinflint than £1 Heinz!

Re: Baked bean wars
Heinz is now a can of two halves - if you are spreading a can over two meals you get a low bean to juice ratio in decant 1, decant 2 conversely more bean to juice - make of that what you will.
Not so obvious an issue with Branston.
Suppose you could shake the can but who does that?
