blahblah wrote: 28 Apr 2026, 18:36 I heard an interesting line about the Niners picks... Basically Shanahan has very strict prerequisites which means the Consensus picks aren't eligible. You'll know better than me about things like WRs that can and will block etc, but I guess it gives the identity etc.
Well, that’s OK if they do what they said on the tin… but maybe it’s a formula for finding success in the lower rounds rather than the middle ones. I think day 2 has quite a low success rate anyway as teams (and no doubt the analysts) take a swing on physical traits and high ceilings, whereas workhorses and solid contributors are often found on day 3 as well as the occasional unexpected star.

Obviously if you don’t fancy the consensus next off the board at a position then you don’t take him, but it should then be BPA or trade down and probably still get the under-the-radar player you had your eye on anyway.
I heard a new line on this, which is either crazy or true.

There are so many apples that don't fall far from the Shanahan tree that his Consensus maybe the Consensus for a whack of others. The point being that his apples/spawns/disciples want the same (Offensive?) players that he does. Hence he didn't want to trade below wherever he got the WR "reach" as he thought he'd go to the one behind where he picked him.

Until the 6'6, 35" armed 10" hands speedster lands some throws 🤣😂🤣
More likely he gets converted to RB/WR/TE, by the sound of it…

Or DE 🤣

All good for where he was picked and I'd take Richardson for a low Pick next year.

Anyway, QB rankings… top five in whatever order fair enough, a lot of room for debate behind that but top 10 seems fairly reasonable. I think Purdy deserves to be a bit higher than 18th though.

A bit generous to a few of the old stagers, and maybe also to a few less established ones. Anyone on the list ranked below Rattler who nearly set a record for starting losses before being benched, even those among them we know as “good backups”, can feel slightly hard done by too!

I stopped assessing at Lamar tbh.

He seems like a mummy's boy and mummy wants it to be all about Lamar; and I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't sign another contract at Baltimore having brought them nowt and cost them their HC.

Ranking QBs is a tad... compared to tiers of highly desirables, yeah kinda good and then depends on how much cash/SC hit they want.

Yeah, some want money, some want titles, and some already have the titles.

Seems broadly a ranking of who you’d want at a point in time (obviously can’t judge, say, Rodgers now by what he was 10 years ago!)

The interesting QB Draft was the Eagles one. He seems to be a carbon copy of the Ego who has landed there.

I don't nt think he has to hit the Draft next year, and he has plenty of room to improve 🤷‍♂️

It seems that next year's Draft is great in other positions, with some sort of God-like RB.

Yeah, didn’t realise Arch had two years of college eligibility remaining, having had a redshirt year. I expect he’ll declare if he’s going to go top five, but if he has a poor or injury-hit college season and falls down the boards then he won’t. How Dante Moore does after turning down the presumptive #2 pick will set a precedent for other QBs’ decisions. He avoided the Jets, that’s one positive, though probably has at least a one in five chance of still landing there next year if his stock doesn’t plummet!

Thought Jeremiah Smith was the one they’re all talking about for next year, though WR as opposed to RB.

That's what I thought (Smith) but apparently it's loads of positions, although may not be QBs to the extent of the Penix year, but probably better than this.

We’ve had two thin QB drafts in succession, so must be due a bumper crop (in terms of expectations, if not outcomes…) Sounds more promising for ‘27, but they were talking up this year’s in advance, and all but one of the frontrunners fell by the wayside.

There's a theory that the Gambler is one of the best, although it could least bad. Atm it's Moore, Arch and Carr but they need to kick on this year.

Who’s the Gambler? And is Carr related to Derek/David?

Bosera or similar. He's about to get banned for betting in his team to win; but could trigger a Draft Auction thing this year with next season's Draft Picks, but this season's spot.

So a Browns 2nd next year would beat a Niners second and lose to a Cruds due to higher picks this year.

Very, but I lived in Austin at the time, so was used to it.

Brenden Sorsby, so I was kinda close 🤷‍♂️

Yep he's quite the talk of the Post Draft lull, with most guessing that he'll cost a 2nd. I'm assuming that it is the original Draft Pick pre Trades, so Jets and Cruds would be favourites?

Although something odd happens in the layer rounds ie they don't follow the order of the first 🤔

33. N.Y. Jets
34. Arizona
35. Tennessee
36. Las Vegas
37. N.Y. Giants
38. Houston (from Washington)
39. Cleveland
40. Kansas City
41. Cincinnati
42. New Orleans
43. Miami
44. N.Y. Jets (from Dallas)
45. Baltimore
46. Tampa Bay
47. Indianapolis
48. Atlanta
49. Minnesota
50. Detroit
51. Carolina
52. Green Bay
53. Pittsburgh
54. Philadelphia
55. L.A. Chargers
56. Jacksonville
57. Chicago
58. San Francisco
59. Houston
60. Chicago (from Buffalo)
61. L.A. Rams
62. Denver
63. New England
64. Seattle

So that's probably the order, as no one will want to lose a first next year, due the quality and quantity of the top prospects - and why none have been traded.

But the very early picks may be considered firsts, especially for those who are going to be shite.
