If you are new to this, the most likely reason you wont like it is the time it takes to get going. Its very much a marathon. If you take it for what it is - a few minutes a week (with one team) to watch something grow then you will be fine. If you do take to it, I would advise getting a couple of teams so there is a little something to do on different days.

Quick notes, cash is incredibly hard to come by. You will only get a maximum of 1.2mil income each week and it will be a long time before you have players worth selling. Training a player costs 130k and you can go broke quickly. Only train a player who you can develop. The benchmark for a decent player is age 17, skill 4. This 17/4 path is the target for any player. So 17/4, 18/5, 19/6 etc. Anyone way off that - for example Gary Baldie at 24/8 is not worth investing in.

Young players will develop if you keep their form high, play them often and have higher skilled veteran players alongside them.

This league is new and everyone is squad building from a weak starting position so this is a great place to learn the ropes as everyone is pretty even at the moment.

Yep, yep and I wouldn't care as I'd have Sold/Sacked him

There are different ways of managing and it's possible/probable that a Squad of 24/8s would be really good for a few seasons. I'm only just thinking about it now, but buying a load of 23 year old 7/8s last season probably has a few seasons of being kinda good?

The bottom line is that a 17/4 with a double will be a 20/8 and likely to be a 24/12 with plenty of TLC and match time.

I would never train him no. He will never be worth it. You have to concentrate on players with long term value or you will always be skint. Chances are his form wont improve, but in the long term that doesn't matter to me. I'm making sure that I can always train my teenagers.

Having said that...

With this league being so new its the one time its even a question. In a mature squad, you don't have 24/8s and don't have to think about it. You could argue that the aim of the game is to win and you could certainly prioritise results now and bag a couple of early titles because everyone is equally crap at the moment. I wouldn't judge you for doing that. Build a legacy and try and build a squad down the line... Sooner or later though you're going to fall very behind and you will take a while to catch up.

As your squad matures, you want to be ending up with a squad full of good players where you can sell players for decent money and then be able to afford training 16 players all season.
