Velogames Season 2025
Well a simply stunning start by David Blake to this Velogames season.
He has won the first four races which is unprecedented. Maybe we should start calling him Nostradamus Blake. He also currently lies second in the Tour of Oman with three stages to go as well.
What’s more David is the Velogames World Leader after the first 4 events and leads by a stunning 650 points.

Well done David. Already you have won more competitions this year than the whole of 2024. Honours board updated on opening post

Re: Velogames Season 2025
Thanks for the kind words above, of course the only way now is down!
My cycling knowledge remains a little limited to be honest.
For years I've been trying to talk my nut of a cycling friend to join my fantasy footie league without success.
Instead I imposed my limited knowledge on his fantasy world, he's now regretting sending me his league code!!!
Good luck for the rest of the season everybody.

Well whatever it is you have the magic touch. This is getting special. 5 races out of 5 you’ve won.nevblake wrote:Thanks for the kind words above, of course the only way now is down!

I'm in. A bit late but better late than never.
should we re-name the mini league to 'The David Blake fan club'?
Chapeau Monsieur Blake! Remarkable start to the season, but can you do it on a wet weekend in Oudenaarde?

Re: Velogames Season 2025
Well he’s human after all but David Blake’s extraordinary winning run is ended by MVL in Provence. David still makes the podium with Unc in 2nd. inexplicably failed to enter personally.

Forgot to enter Algarve and my UAE tour team was just a random team I put in on my way back home at the weekend. Missed the deadline to enter a proper team. Hopefully will be getting used to this by the time the Classics start

Re: Velogames Season 2025
Tour of Algarve Stage 1 cancelled and result voided after farcical end to the day. This could have been nasty for the spectators.
Only the intermediate sprinter points awarded.

half of the riders seemed to sit up, realising that it was the wrong way but some just sprinted anyway, even though there was no finish line and loads of spectators! I think just mass confusion and panic about what was happening.

Velogames Season 2025
4 more results to catch up on with one more to go in the warm up championships
UAE and yet another win for David Blake

At the Alpe Maritime a first season win for Dean Allen

Over at Ruta del Sol a first season win for GeoffV

And finally a first season win also for Cardiffdaffs at Volta Algarve

And finally David has slipped off top spot on the overall leaderboard. He needs to beat the leader by 600 points at the Gran Camino to win the Warm Ups.

Re: Velogames Season 2025
An all too familiar update and David Blake's 7th win out of 11 this season. Phenomenal. David finished the Warm Up Series in overall 2nd place.

Shout out also to Zoophonic, another of our players, who lay 2nd globally after the Omloop and now 5th after the KBK.
Result updated in opening post

Re: Velogames Season 2025
First really big race of the season coming up on Saturday and the Velogames Fantasy Spring Classics game is now open.
Always enjoy MSR. Can Pog find a way to finally win. Seems almost impossible for him to find a way to get away and stay away, and he won't win in a sprint, so will be interesting to see if they try something different this year

Re: Velogames Season 2025
Forecast is for rain which might help UAE. They will probably have to make it hard froma long way out to burn off the really fast men. But as a Nibali proved you can attack on the Poggio and stay out there but his was an element of surprise. Everyone will be watching him.unc.si wrote: 18 Mar 2025, 22:03 First really big race of the season coming up on Saturday and the Velogames Fantasy Spring Classics game is now open.

Re: Velogames Season 2025
Yes, everyone watching Pog, and also Nibali was a fantastic descender.
I guess they'll try to make it hard from the Capi, attack on the Cipressa and try to hold on. If they dont make a selection on the Capi there will be too many riders getting back on the flat between the Cipressa and the Poggio even if they go full gas up the Cipressa, and Pog will be isolated, having used up all his team to get him into that position.
Maybe a hard race, with some rain and an attack on the Cipressa might work if there's a tailwind. Any sort of headwind and an attack on the Cipressa will be pointless and its just going to have to be trying to jump on the Poggio and hold on.
such a simple race on paper, with none of the difficulties of the other Monuments, but so many different permutations - very difficult to call

Re: Velogames Season 2025
Not sure whats happened to my Velogames team for RVV. Its not the team that I picked by a long way and its showing 9,984 transfers remaining.
Hopefully just a glitch that George is working through. Looks like it might possibly have reverted back to my MSR team?
anyway, race is on....

Re: Velogames Season 2025
e-mailed George but not sorted out yet, so on the negative side I've lost Pog and Mads points (and maybe Ganna but I cant remember whether I managed to squeeze him back in or not) but on the plus side I've got 9,984 transfers to play with
I'm sure it will get sorted out, although from a quick look at a coupe of other teams in the league it seems that no-one else had the same issue?

Tried to a grab a screenshot of the league solely to show number of entrants (there are 22) but it didn't all fit in the screen. Here it is anyway....
