Bringing Haaland back in GW18, GW28 onward, or not at all?
This is more of a long-running thread for the many of us who have sold Haaland or soon plan to.
The sentiment in the community seems to be to target GW18 for Haaland's return for a fixture run of (EVE lei WHU bre ips). This happens to coincide with Wolves having a turn of fixtures (MNU tot NFO new che ARS AVL liv) so it makes sense to plan to switch Cunha or Strand Larsen to Haaland at the expense of a premium midfielder.
However, Salah (LEI), Palmer (FUL), and Saka (IPS) are all great captaincy options in GW18 and I don't see many of us being willing to sell any of them to fund the switch. What's more, City's run is immediately followed by (CHE ars NEW LIV tot nfo) meaning the switch to Haaland will probably be reversed after just 5 GWs.
Basically, I'm not convinced we'll be switching back to Haaland in GW18. I think it's likely Haaland won't be bought back in droves until around GW28.

Cant see the point of gw18 especially if it's reversed after only 4 or 5 weeks as that's just too many transfers to use. Also the premium mids fixtures dont look too bad
I went with avoid all season but if a premium mid gets injured and city go on a run then i could change my mind.

Agreed. It also has the feeling of the same trap the majority of WC'ers fell into earlier in the season.itslikebrandnew wrote: 24 Nov 2024, 14:28 Cant see the point of gw18 especially if it's reversed after only 4 or 5 weeks as that's just too many transfers to use. This is one of the reasons why I've made it so votes can be updated. I really want to capture the sentiment on a week by week basis.itslikebrandnew wrote: 24 Nov 2024, 14:28 I went with avoid all season but if a premium mid gets injured and city go on a run then i could change my mind.

Then you need to make sure that everyone who voted today and this week will need to continue to monitor this thread and change their vote accordingly.Resonare wrote: 24 Nov 2024, 16:19 This is one of the reasons why I've made it so votes can be updated. Well, up to now I keep Haaland in the squad. This Liverpool fixture seems tough for Man City. So maybe reconsider.

Now I've sold him, it's unlikely I'll bring him back in. The upside to not having him far outweighs the money he uses in my opinion.

Dear Haaland owners,
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
Yours sincerely,

I will be keeping Haaland all season unless he gets injured i think it is madness to sell the best striker in the world and remember you need to be right twice when you sell him and if you get it wrong you will lose a lot of points .

But for his price you can more than cover him with other assets. His points per million is not good enough to warrant having him, even if he was to score a goal a game from here on in, it wouldn't be enough.arnold wrote:I will be keeping Haaland all season unless he gets injured i think it is madness to sell the best striker in the world and remember you need to be right twice when you sell him and if you get it wrong you will lose a lot of points .

Sold him after GW4. Won't bring him back as my team is better balanced without him.

It all comes down to Haaland's price. If he continues to underperform the trio of premiums Palmer, Saka and Salah and drops further in price, he might become an interesting differential.

I don't think he'll drop enough for that to become a consideration tbh

I took a -16 to dump him in week 11 after realising a made a mistake bringing him in on my wildcard in week 6.arnold wrote: 25 Nov 2024, 20:47 I will be keeping Haaland all season unless he gets injured i think it is madness to sell the best striker in the world and remember you need to be right twice when you sell him and if you get it wrong you will lose a lot of points .
The way you lose alot of points is by not acting on mistakes. I have a feeling this gameweek he'll do well against Forest but it wont make up for all the times he's blanked.
I can't see me bringing him back unless one of either Salah, Saka or Palmer got a long term injury.

Agreed - people talk of a “fixture swing” but it’s not really. Yes Man City have good fixtures but during that time so do the premiums from other teams (Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal especially).
