The FISODAS Cup - Season 37


Week 3 is the Final Qualifying Round


Those that qualify will take part in Round One which will be played in WEEK 5.

The Final will take place in Week 9

The qualifying round (week 3) will get the numbers down from 50 to 32.

The ten Premiership players will join the Cup in Round One. The remaining 40 players having to negotiate the qualifiers.

In order to get from 40 to 22 there will be 18 qualifying ties. Four players will be given byes into round one.

The 22 qualifiers from the above will go into the draw with the ten Premiership players for the First Round Proper, which will take place in week five.


Games for rounds 1 & 2 will be drawn randomly, by computer generated random numbers. QF & SF draws will be made by a celebrity ball picker!



Scoring in the Cup is exactly the same as for league games. You only enter one set of selections, and these are used for both competitions.

Bonuses apply in the cup just as they do in the league. Therefore, if you use a bonus in the league, this will count in the Cup even if you are drawn against a player who has immunity that week. Similarly, if you can't use a bonus in the league, you obviously don't use one in the cup.


In the event of a draw, there will be no replay. The outcome will be decided by :-

1/ The team that has scored the most goals (capt and SOF count double as in the league)
If still no winner
2/ The team that has cost the least
If still no winner
3/ The team that has been entered first (or earliest final edit time)

Three from the top flight, two from League 1, one from League 2 and two from the Conference - the Championship is not represented.

Zulu is 6th in League 1 with two wins whilst Rob is 3rd in the Conference with three - could be an upset on the cards.
The all Premiership tie sees S4 (winless and pointless) taking on Fuzzy (2nd with 4 wins) - will form tell or does the term 'name on the cup' suggest Spencer could prevail?
Zipnolan (4 wins) is up against Pman (3 wins) who will likely give this game his full focus - another upset perhaps.
SUZY from the Conference has 2 wins whilst topspur is leading the league above with four - looks like an away win but who knows?

Rob is the only quarter finalist with bonuses remaining - but will he use any?!

Zulu had to get through the qualifying round whilst Zip joined with the rest of the Prem in Round One.

He overcame opponents from the Prem, Champ, L2 and Conference (x2). He got through both the QF and SF on a tie break following drawn games.

He overcame opponents from the Prem, Champ, L1 & L2 - he hasn't YET played anyone from the Conference....


On paper there really is no contest here - goal differences of 5 and 17 tell the story.
Zip is third in the Premiership with five wins, Zulu is fourth in League one with two wins fewer.
Both players have scored 18 goals this season but Zulu has let in one goal fewer than Zip. Some encouragement there perhaps.
Neither player has a bonus left to play.
Whoever wins will collect the Cup for the first time.


It's difficult then to see anything other than a win for zipnolan. Maybe the best Zuluwarrior can hope for is a close game and to prevail on a tie break for the third time.
Whatever happens I hope we get a good game, played in the true FISODAS spirit.

Only one match-up so should be an open and exciting game!
The defences will be crucial and for me Geoff, Zulu just takes it here.
I can see a couple of goals each amongst those strikers but Zip's captain choice looks a little stronger on paper.
Ones to look out for? There's Palmer on the one hand, who could well turn it on today. On the other there's the boy Garnacho who can win any game on his day.

Look at those team values - zip just has the edge if it's level after 90mins and goals scored, but who got their team in first I wonder, in case it goes all the way..?!

As we know, it's a game of two halves and may the best team win - and hopefully no-one ends up feeling as sick as a parrot today.
