Re: Sideshow league
Just a heads up. FF stuff has a price change predictor up and running, it's not perfect of course, but a very very useful guide.
I've found in the past that popular players seem to out perform their predictions on both the up and downside.
Also worth remembering there can be no more than 30 price rises and 30 price drops in any given gameweek.
Real shame we didn't go Salah and a cheapie rather than stinking out the place with B/O.

Re: Sideshow league
Yeah, I seem to remember your initial selection had Salah and a cheapie but Nm persuaded you to swap for Fernandes and Odegaard.....
Thanks for the price change tip off. I found the semi-random nature of the changes quite annoying last season so any help is appreciated. I had a couple of defenders who dropped to 4.4 early and never went back making them difficult to replace, despite dozens of others performing the same or worse staying at 4.5

You're welcome Art
Much as I'd like to blame Nm. Odegaard was my suggestion
Although I was advocating the Salah option I'd Still be surprised if the bad B/O combo didn't outscore Salah/Downes over the season, but that's little consolation at the Mo.

Cheers for the pricing tip off. Am I right in thinking changes won’t happen till next kick off, so we can wait then? That’s how I read it anyway, which takes the pressure off.
I can’t be doing with FPL style price changes. I can be doing with a wildcard though.
Salah well outperforming his xG xA stats. B/O massively not
Well done those who sacked off Tark in time.

Managed to resist the wildcard temptation with 2 x FT to sort Ode and Whiffer. Players coming off the bench are quite annoying aren’t they, though I did enjoy Pacman’s 0.3 impact bonus. Stinky day in general.

Took a hit to try and sort things, to no avail.
You playing the £3 unlimited budget game?
Thankfully that's currently going rather well.
Very disappointing to see JLo channelling his inner Moyes and playing hoofballio yesterday

No I skipped the unlimited game at the time, thinking I was taking on more than I could chew. Instead I’ve bitten off even more and signed up to the champions league one.coleridge wrote: ↑15 Sep 2024, 09:55Yes, a bit of a Saturday stinker.Northernmonkey wrote: ↑15 Sep 2024, 08:39 Managed to resist the wildcard temptation with 2 x FT to sort Ode and Whiffer. Re: Sideshow league
Well, that was frustrating. I had done Gvardiol to Gabriel during my wildcard but decided to keep Gvardiol for a few weeks as City had better fixtures.
I'm doing the unlimited budget one, that was even more annoying as I left two Arsenal defenders and Schar left sat on the bench

For me at least, the unlimited one has gone a lot more smoothly, with a brief visit into the top 100 Saturday

Cheers for the update, Coleridge.
Whatever pace I was setting has tailed off somewhat. Raya making save after save for you lot didn't help.
Wasn't much cop in the Unlimited either, but did manage to learn a valuable lesson. Never bench Gabriel.

Frustrating weekend for me on the wrong side of a my 50/50’s. Flipped captain from Diaz to Trent last minute, falling for a rumour he wasn’t starting. Also transferred in Pedro’s 1 pointer and benched Roger’s. So @ 10 points dropped overall. Bummer!

Still looking pretty good I'd say.
Early wildcard locking in some nice price rises
Building a nice transfer bank for an overhaul if needed
If you need the links to the other teams anytime, just let me know.

I'm contemplating playing the wildcard or taking another hit this week
West ham boys looking poor Although tbf being denied a stonewall pen didn't help.
Come to think of it a Pac man pen would have put me top

Terrific performance in the Unlimited, Coleridge.

Cheers Johnners
Got lucky really, nearly brought in an Arsenal defender, which have meant, losing a clean sheet, playing Bruno and benching solanke
Great job bothering the prize money with your Iso team
Very grateful myself to be heading north at the mo, this week,, despite no Palmer.
Definitely could of been worse

Thanks. Might have a chance of staying there if only I could manage my bench properly. That's five weeks out of six one of my subs has returned.
Glad Palmer didn't inflict too much damage on you, and just as well he wasn't highly captained in this. CFF must have been brutal.

CFF was indeed brutal. On the bright side I may well be able to spend the end of July next year fully concentrated on the TdF, instead of being dragged prematurely back to footy on iso dutyJohnners wrote: ↑30 Sep 2024, 07:59Thanks. Just checked out your other teams.
Pleased to see your Iso team top of the pile and great to see you've got a couple in the money in the unlimited too

Re: Sideshow league
I also enjoyed the medals That was a better weekend for me. I was letting the price changes influence my choices too much, decided to just ignore them as much as possible from now on and so far so good.
My non-Haaland team has been flying up the table. Gone from virtually rock bottom to top thirdish in a couple of weeks thanks to Diaz and Palmer captains
What are we doing about Isak then? I'm thinking Havertz but Jackson is tempting.....

I wildcarded and dropped 5000 places
I can’t say I’m a fan of the medals this week, but the is fully justified. I went for Saka and Jackson, which felt better than Palmer and Solanke short term. Didn’t expect that swing to be quite so brutal.

Traded all my Isaks last weekend. Bought a Havertz and a few Solankes to free up a bit of money.Art Vandelay wrote: ↑02 Oct 2024, 07:48 What are we doing about Isak then? I'm thinking Havertz but Jackson is tempting.....
Keep up the good work with the armband, Art. Such an important part of the game which is so often my undoing.
You're not alone, Nm. Wildcarded one of my other teams with similarly disastrous results. Seemed like a good time to go heavy on Arsenal, and tried to catch a few price rises which never materialised either.
Even managed to bring in van Hecke for his upcoming run of physio appointments.

Being a noob, can't help thinking I've been a bit naive about how significant they are. Yes it's an area I'm weak, although I've had some very nice results in this. I think they've come because of differential players and captains rather than being technically competent.Johnners wrote: ↑03 Oct 2024, 21:43Being a noob, can't help thinking I've been a bit naive about how significant they are. It's why I was keen on a side league. To try to and concentrate the mind a bit.
Of course swapping a player who is about to drop for one who is about to rise is a 0.2 swing.
Although as Art has found out, being overly focused on price changes can be detrimental.
It's a delicate balance.
I think it's traditionally been quite important to use the wildcard to try and bag some extra dough.

Re: Sideshow league
Thought at the start that the price changes might be along the lines of Sun Dream Team, where it's not unusual for your squad value to rise by a million every week. Seems like the increases in this are far more modest.coleridge wrote: ↑04 Oct 2024, 15:49Yes it's an area I'm weak, although I've had some very nice results in this. I knew you'd like it.
It's a lot more neuanced than it first appears.
Plenty of potential here for a smart cookie like yourself.
Some very serious multi entrant and higher stake players mind.
