I did enter which was a waste of time as Bet 365 closed my account

As they were fined over 1/2 a million by the Gambling Commission for not doing enough to 'protect' some customers they seized an opportunity to ban me & tick a box. Here's an exchange between us:

The claim that they were sticking to the GC 'rules' isn't true as the GC say this:

During those exchanges I offered to send them my latest income tax form which would have confirmed any affordability check

Every bookie online now requires photo i.d., has done since I think 2019. Not sure why you think you are being singled out or entitled to special treatment - they specified 4 photo id types none of which you have: I wouldn't trust anyone as a customer who doesn't have one of those either.

As I've other accounts that have never asked for photo ID I'm confused why you think its normal You obviously didn't look at the link for the GC, photo ID certainly isn't mandatory

My passport ran out 2002'ish & have never driven & have never found the need for an ID card tbh.

I'd put it that I tick a box for them https://www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk/n ... y-failures & its not really going to cost them much getting rid of me as they restricted me to £100 deposit per week a couple of years or so ago. Thats a long story

er maybe u will have 2nd thoughts about that after their recent announcement

have to say looking at your recent exchange with 365 (interesting read) they actually havent done much wrong on their part. verification processes have tightened up a lot over recent yrs and being asked for photo ID is common these days. my advice to yourself tony would be to get your expired passport updated as it will almost definitely come in handy as some point in the future. im sure u can afford it with all your multi betting accounts

Both Goodwin & Bet Victor have been recently opened without any fuss & as the Gambling commission site clearly stated a utility bill would suffice

As for Bet 365, I've plenty of options to lose money elsewhere

Bet365 deleted, or simply lost, me recently. I'd had an account with them for about 20 years, went to log in one day and my password didn't work. Emailed to say I couldn't log in and was told there was no record of anyone with my name or email. I sent a screen shot of an email I'd had from them to that email address from 2007 and they said they'd investigate.

Didn't hear back again. I don't think I've ever heard back from any company who promised to 'investigate' something. There was no money in the account so I just wrote it off and opened a fresh one. I was expecting to be refused and told I couldn't open an account as there was one already under those details but I wasn't.

The proof of ID business with bookies seems a bit hit and miss. I've had some accounts, eg unibet, where I've been blocked and can't even log in until I supply not just photo id but also a photo of me holding that id. I've had some just block deposit/withdrawals but I can still log in and bet with my balance.

Some have emailed me demanding ID but I've just ignored them have have been able to carry on as normal (eg betfair). Others (eg BetVictor) have just left me alone.
