However its only happened 'cos I took Cash out at the last minute when he wasn't among the final declarations for the French Derby.

In one sense its not that surprising given that we have both gone for the bleedin' obvious. The most popular 9 horses plus the 12th most popular. One of my paid entries has the most popular 9 horses plus the 11th most popular.

With it being a late start this year I would say there will be a lot of identical entries and it will go down to some shrewd move(s) in the transfer window.

I must admit I started picking my stable b4 the guineas to see what I could come up with but I wouldn't have started well as Luxembourg would have been a Banker but he could still come in at the window. I don't know if you have noticed the fixture list but on the day it finishes which is Champions day on the same day there's a big meet in Australia where the results will count.
I have the Aussie horse Nature Strip in a few lines as the trainer stated he would come to England but would hope to have something left in the tank for the Everest which is run on the last day of the comp...

Let's hope that we're both in the mix on the last day. I went for Home Affairs in a few line rather than Nature Strip but it wasn't exactly a "scientific" choice. The clincher was that Waller clearly hopes that they will both run at Ascot and if they do, Nature Strip will not only be going up against Golden Pal but in the non bonus Kings Stand. And who knows who will come out on top if they were both to make it to the July Cup. I certainly hadn't factored in the Everest as I always focus solely on the period up to the substiution window with my initial selections. By the way the Caulfield Cup is also on October 15th, Yibir anyone?

If you (bloggie or anyone else) are interested we could have an ongoing discussion throughout the comp starting with us both posting our entries here, i.e. the horses we used, how many stables we put them in, and the reasons for certain key choices. I had intended to enter 10-16 paid teams plus my free team. Entered one just after the comp opened to check that the "system" hadn't changed, nine more 3 or 4 days ago, another six late yesterday afternoon, and a seventeenth at the last minute when in between watching the cricket, I was madly googling Cash to no effect. So a grand total of 18.

As regards your Luxembourg comment, I had him in a single entry private TTF that closed just before the Guineas. The other two horses who I included there that didn't make my cut this time were Yibir and Tuesday.

I agree that the comp will almost certainly depend on substitutions. We have to hope that two "Baaeeds" don't come out of the woodwork so that there is also a massive amount of substitution similarity with the final result going down to time of entry.

Only put two paid in. Have reached double figure entries before to no avail. I guess Emily could outscore Tuesday yet although a logical pick in retrospect.

What an amazing weight carrying performance put up by Trueshan.

If the rains come at Goodwood, there's your cup horse winner.

I can now finally see why Gosden is raving about Hollie Doyle.

She would have won on Emily Upjohn in the Oaks and given Stradivarius a better ride and won on Inspiral without making it hard work.

Tuesday was a very lucky winner and Emily should have won that by 2/3 lengths easing up.

Tuesday put in her place in the Irish Derby.

Remember substitution window closes tomorrow morning at 11 am

Post any useful info below.

For example, no guarantee but it seems likely that Desert Crown won't make it back to the course this season. Likely to be a close thing but why should Stoute rush him back when he's staying in training in 2023.

But the odds of us picking the same 10 horses initially and now making identical substitutions must be pretty long.

I put Apinistra in but didn't research it that much as was off the pace as now think Tuesday will win against her today. Tuesday usually gets ridden off the pace so needs to be somewhere near the front final few furlongs to be able to gain lead. Saying that most of us including me are only 2 or 3 missing highest scoring horses away from the overall lead. So just shows a need to get the right combo of horses from the start including Kyprios from the stayers that I see a few in this league got and being young should be the new reliable staying star.

In retrospect. Also it was my higher paid one that I put Alpinistra in with the Arc winner in other paid and free one. Also put Kyprios in but didn't put a differential choice as looked too far off the pace and had Truism already.

Clearly my senility is accelerating. As far as I am concerned I looked up Ottershaw's post substitution stable and saw that he had made the same transfers as myself.

It seems likely that the Nunthorpe result is going to be key in determining both the overall competition outcome and our own little league's placings. Problem is that there are few form-lines between the two market leaders themselves and between them and the rest of the field. So we are all guessing.
