Those dates look a tad optimistic with what appears to be a 6 week break not really impacting the season's start and end dates.

I think 1 week earlier/later start compared to usual?

Presumably there will be more double weeks but don’t know where they find the extra matchdays from, perhaps no FA Cup replays but they’ve gone from most rounds anyway. Have international break weeks in the spring been dropped? That’s the only way I can see to free up space, but they’ll need to start Euro 24 qualifiers.

Community Shield in Leicester, that’s a strange one… have they moved to a Eurovision “winner hosts next year” format? :?

I'd guess 1 week earlier and 2 or 3 weeks later and probably not the Xmas congestion?

Final matches on 28th May is only a week later than this season. Presumably CL final and perhaps FA Cup final in June ‘23?

Expecting midweek rounds in weeks beginning 29 Aug (transfer deadline 1 Sept) and 17 Oct when 22-23 PL fixtures are announced next week. PL have said season will pause for WC after Round 16 (12/13 Nov). https://t.co/wppNvTVRaU

According to ESPN, FA has asked for the "Big Six" to have easy fixtures on the last GW before the WC: could be a lot of players rested?

FA might want this but the clubs don't care. Tire them out before you lose them!

An easy game AFTERWARDS so any tired players can be rested.....

Still baffles me how the combined might of the big clubs, major leagues and national FAs allowed all this to happen.

Yeah, but they could have said ditch Qatar or our players don’t go, or at the extreme end, we leave FIFA. Is the combined wealth of the Middle Eastern oil states not a match for the Swiss Mafia? ;)

And on the flip side a lovely genuine mid-season break for the likes of Haaland, Salah etc

🤞 Covid doesn't cause any postponements this season, those long game weeks were very tiresome.
let the planning begin.

Just an observation. Why do Liverpool get promoted sides in their first match? They have for the last few. It's not the time I'd like to play them though.

This is quite handy and shows the pre-Xmas compression of the fixtures. Gonna be a lot of rotation this season.

Oh yeah, the Sherwood/Chocolate Fire-Garde season… they’d been threatening to implode for a few seasons before that. I seem to remember they beat Bournemouth, which gave us false expectations of both teams!

I've read that we (Man City) always ask to start the season away, so the grass in the stadium gets a bit more time to recover//be reseeded from summer concerts.
