Ashleigh Barty - 34

Coco Gauff - 2*
Naomi Osaka - 1**
Petra Kvitova - 1**
Simona Halep - 1**
Any Other Player - 4*

* would be worth an additional 1 bonus point
** would be worth an additional 2 bonus points
Unsurprisingly, top ranked and defending champion Ash Barty was the most popular pick in this category.

More surprisingly, at the tender age of 25, she announced her retirement with immediate effect this week

Mind you she has stepped away from professional tennis before so a tiny glimmer of hope remains for the 34 Barty picks
Naomi Osaka withdrew through injury whilst Aryna Sabalenka was banned from entering leaving the category with 5 options.

3 of the players; Kvitova, Halep and Goff have all been drawn in the same quarter
Emma Raducanu was beaten in the 2nd round (has she got further than the 2nd round in any tournament since the US Open?) today leaving just the 3 players in the same quarter plus the Any Other Player option as the only remaining selections

Petra Kvitova and Coco Gauff were both defeated in the 3rd round leaving 2019 champion, Simona Halep as the last named player. With Any Other Player being one of the options, the category is now a straight race between Halep and the field.

We are now at the semi final stage with Halep due to face Elena Rybakina later today.

Rybakina was too strong for Halep winning in straight sets on her way to her first Grand Slam title.

There were only 4 selections for Any Other Player each earning 3 points (including one bonus point)

Back in January, this category kicked off with a couple of very popular winners in Melbourne.

Ash Barty claimed the women's title and Rafa Nadal came from 2 sets down to win his record breaking 21st Grand Slam title
The French Open titles were both claimed by pre tournament favourites Iga Swiatek and the invincible Rafa Nadal.

This leaves us on 3 different winners with 2 more Grand Slam events to come
Iga Swiatek was a first week casualty at Wimbledon which guaranteed a different 2022 Grand Slam winner for the Wimbledon ladies singles.

An abdominal tear forced Rafael Nadal to withdraw from the tournament also guaranteeing another different 2022 Grand Slam winner in the Wimbledon mens singles.

This leaves us on 5 different winners with just the US Open to come in September

Australia overcame a first half red card to win the first Test 30-28.

England raced into a 19 point lead in the second Test before a couple of quick Aussie tries got them within one score but England held on for a 25-17 victory.

This leaves the series neatly poised at 1-1 but eliminates the "nones" and the 3's from the category

In the series decider, England moved into a 21-10 lead with a couple of tries either side of half time and then hung on for the final whistle only conceded one score.

The final score of Australia 17 - 21 England gave England the series but more importantly the 15 selections for 2 wins all earn 2 points each, including TheWidds who score their first points of the competition.

An eventful final day saw Scheffler, Johnson, Spieth , Cantlay, DeChambeau and Schauffele feature on the leaderboard although some were more short lived than others.

Scheffler's putter went cold and he dropped out of contention early on leaving Johnson and Spieth to battle it out on the back 9. Despite making a mess of the 17th, a birdie at 18 confirmed Dustin Johnson as the leading (from our selection) US player to claim this category on countback from Cameron Young who finished in second place; I'm not sure many of us would have known of him at the beginning of this year so, unsurprisingly, he was not selected by anyone

The remaining relay competitions will take place over the next weekend - surely one of the GB teams must be able to better the Mixed 400m result?

It doesn't look like the Men's 400m even qualified for the games.

However, the Men's 100m team not only made their final but managed to secure a bronze medal.

The Women's 100m team look well placed to match them in their final until Dina Asher-Smith pulled up injured

The Women's 400m team's final takes place overnight - can they match or better the Men's 100m bronze?

Charles Leclerc is looking good with 2 wins from the first 3 races with Max Verstappen claiming the other race

Number of different winners is currently 2 after 3 of 23 races
Max Verstappen has won both of the recent GPs; Emilia Romagna (didn't this used to be called the San Marino GP?) and Miami.

Number of different winners remains 2 after 5 of 23 races
The Russian GP will not be replaced this year so this year is a 22 race season

Verstappen made it 3 wins in a row in Barcelona leaving us stuck on 2 winners after 6 of 22 races
Sergio Perez won the Monaco GP raising the number of winners to 3 after 7 of 22 races
Verstappen has won the two most recent GPs in Azerbaijan and Canada so the number of winners remains on 3 after 9 of 22 races
Carlos Sainz took the chequered flag at the British GP for his first ever GP win.

Leclerc got his title ambitions back on course in Austria before Verstappen won again in France.

The number of winners is now up to 4 after 12 of 22 races

Women's 400m - 11
Mixed 400m - 5*
Men's 400m - 2*

* would be worth an additional 1 bonus point
The Mixed relay competition took place over the first weekend of the World Championships and the GB team failed to qualify for the final; it looks like they would have qualified as a fastest loser from the other heat.

Yes they could - the Women's 400m squad came home in 3rd place so both Women's 400m and Men's 100m are the category winners.

There were 11 selections for each of the bronze medal winning squads worth 2 points each

For the record, the Wimbledon champions were Elena Rybakina and Novak Djokovic

The final Grand Slam is underway in New York and Wimbledon champ Elena Rybakina failed to get beyond the first round; with Ash Barty in retirement, French Open champion Iga Swiatek is the only 2022 champion left in the women's draw

Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic was unable to participate due to vaccine regulations leaving Rafael Nadal as the only 2022 champion left in the men's draw.

If Swiatek and Nadal both win then the category remains as 5 winners
If only one of them win then the category goes up to 6 winners
If neither of them win then the category is settled as 7 winners

The "new England" look quite good 2 matches into their red ball reset.

Injuries amongst the bowlers are rife at the minute so from the selected players above, only the stalwarts of Broad and Anderson have played any Test cricket this summer.

After 2 of 7 matches the wickets totals are

Anderson - 11
Broad - 9

Potts is best of the unselected players on 10
Anderson missed the final Test against New Zealand due to injury.

3 wickets for Stuart Broad see him leapfrog Anderson as the leading wicket taker in this category.

However, Matthew Potts took another 4 wickets and Jack Leach claimed 10 wickets in a MotM performance.

After 3 of matches the wickets totals are

(Potts) - 14
(Leach) - 13
Broad - 12
Anderson - 11

No one else has more than 3 wickets
A 5 wicket haul in the rearranged Test vs India moved Anderson level with Potts who moved clear once again with 2 wickets in the big innings defeat against South Africa leaving the standings after 5 of the 7 matches as

unselected (Potts) - 20
Anderson - 18
Broad - 18
unselected (Leach) - 15

Woakes, Wood, Mahmood, Bess are all officially eliminated from the category

For the 2nd Test vs South Africa, Ollie Robinson replaced Matthew Potts

England totally dominated the match with Anderson and Broad sharing 10 wickets leaving the standings with just one more match to go as

Anderson - 24
Broad - 22

with unselected Potts back on 20

The group stages have now been completed and there have already been 78 goals.

Moving into the knockout stages there are 7 games left.
There were 7 goals in the quarter finals and a further 7 in the semi finals and another 3 in the final which takes the total number up to 95 goals, which finalises this element of the tiebreak

There were just 4 selections for Trent Rockets worth 3 points each including one bonus point
