Re: NFL chat 2022/23 season
It’s always hard to grade players but it did seem the standard was more even than usual, so there might prove to be a lot of day 2/3 value.
The Jets seem to be the team who most agree could have landed a few potential big impact players at different positions. Will be interesting to watch them, but they’re relying on Zach Wilson taking a big step forward and that’s far from certain after he had the toughest rookie season of all the highly-touted class of ‘21 QBs, and the bar wasn’t high!

Re: NFL chat 2022/23 season
Well, if Zach is shite for the first few games and Baker/Gina are still available…
Just checked who they have as backups, there’s Mike White who made a reasonable fill-in start or two last season, and Wacko Flacco who was last any good about 10 years ago.

They seem to be worth a watch this season along with the Dolphins, and by default the Pats as they could get an early Draft pick to waste

Should be an interesting division, if still uncertain as to whether any of the QBs other than Allen are any good!

Re: NFL chat 2022/23 season
No one wants him. But you are stuck because you can't cut him as when Watson gets his season long ban you will need him.
Imagine then when the Browns beg him to help them out after the QB they betrayed him with gets his well deserved suspension and he goes "FU"

Re: NFL chat 2022/23 season
I think the Jets and the Jags might be a lot better this season. Wilson and Lawrence are both quality QBs who landed in bad situations. For either team to give up on them this early would be mad.forestfan wrote: ↑05 May 2022, 19:15The Jets seem to be the team who most agree could have landed a few potential big impact players at different positions. Re: NFL chat 2022/23 season
Well, they will definitely get next season to prove themselves, but not that many have had rookie seasons that bad and become elite (perhaps the Mannings and Troy Aikman, but it was a while ago…)Magic wrote: ↑09 May 2022, 07:50I think the Jets and the Jags might be a lot better this season. It sounded like Lawrence at least mostly looked like an NFL QB waiting to emerge from the chaos around him, whereas Wilson looked more out of his depth and was outperformed by a little-known backup when he missed a couple of games. No more excuses for either though, if they don’t step up and one of their teams is picking in the top two again next year there are no guarantees.
Anyway, I always like to follow the bad teams trying to emerge from rock-bottom, and these two are doing it different ways. The Jags (over?) spent on solid starters in free agency whereas the Jets went for a big splash in the Bellagio Fountain. Will be interesting to see which approach pays off.

Re: NFL chat 2022/23 season
I can’t believe that for a moment, why would you destroy a player’s trade value that way even if you wanted rid? Shooting yourselves in the foot. Would be plausible if he was a free agent or cuttable with no cap hit…

Re: NFL chat 2022/23 season
My take is that he insisted on playing. As a whack of pages above, I was going in about him being shite and he should have had the operation.
It is interesting that none of the players have come out in support/friendship etc as they did when OBJ left.

Re: NFL chat 2022/23 season
You might need to Osweiler him before the season starts, unless you get lucky with a starter going down injured somewhere. Even then, not sure if he’s making himself top of teams’ wishlist in such a scenario, never mind Garoppolo they might be giving Kaepernick a call before him

Re: NFL chat 2022/23 season
Richard Head?
They’ve got TrubINTsky and Pickett-6 now, so can’t see them bringing another one in unless in the case of an injury or really shocking training camp. And again, you won’t want to deal with division rivals? Seattle look like the team with biggest need but not sure he’d be Carroll’s cup of Starbucks either, though again, he might whip him into shape.

Re: NFL chat 2022/23 season
I'd laugh if the Browns cut him and Pittsburg grabbed him and cut Trubisky. That would be high level spycraft on Tomlin's partforestfan wrote: ↑10 May 2022, 10:14Richard Head? They’ve got TrubINTsky and Pickett-6 now, so can’t see them bringing another one in unless in the case of an injury or really shocking training camp. Brady signs up as Fox’s lead analyst for when he finishes playing. So that’s only about 20 years for them to fill in the meantime, then…

Re: NFL chat 2022/23 season
Some interesting and plausible predictions here…
https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/ten- ... -and-more/
NFC seems so wide open the Philly one might even have some mileage. I can’t see past the Rams and Bucs as contenders even if both are perhaps slightly weaker than last season, so there’s room for someone to emerge.

Bills @ Rams in the opener… more than plausibly a Super Bowl dress rehearsal.

Re: NFL chat 2022/23 season
Thought the Raiders were a team on the up, even if stuck in what’s now a brutal division… but sometimes the playing roster can disguise other things going on, even if chaotic ownership and a crap team typically go together.

More details emerging on Haskins. Seems like it was an accident/breakdown scenario as reported, but that he had alcohol and drugs in his system. Apparently left a club following an argument with a friend and presumably drove off.

Great news
Over the weekend I heard that your lot own 40% of Leeds and are looking to get to 51%, which could be interesting. 5 Prem Clubs USofA owned plus Citeh, the Foxes and Skunks will start to be enough to encourage the E(W)SL again?
