“Could”, “5%”. That’s what is well known anyway, and the world just has to cross its fingers and hope.

There are reasons a virus will generally get less dangerous as it mutates but it’s by no means a sure thing.

How about the logic that we have a much more transmissable, but far less serious, variant? That would have exactly the effect of high deaths with Covid, low deaths due to Covid. And it's true. How true it would be good to know, but there's no point talking about the last 2 years, we are on a very different variant and past facts no longer (necessarily, or even usually) hold.

Around 1 in 6 people dying has covid (within 28 days etc) so covid must be partly to blame unless 1 in 6 people have had covid within 28 days - and even if that were true it still wouldn't be right unless adjusted for age etc (most dying are in older age brackets and most with covid are in younger age brackets).

I admit to having reservation's about the vaccine at the start, chiefly due to estimates how long it would take to develop which was years

We wont know for possibly years if there are any negative side effects but on balance chose to opt for the jabs

I've received 2 text messages in the last 12 hours or so claiming I've been in contact with someone with Omicron & to tap 'this link' which I obviously didn't.

It'll be scam of some sort. Should anyone get a message as described my advice would be delete it.

There was, thinking back, very few scams re covid. You would think it was a ripe area to mine for those who think like that....

I didn't get many or fall for any. Well, apart from one I fell for 3 times which just ending up with me getting injected with some aliens and their tracking systems in microcapsules. Didn't lose any cash at all.

This was probably down to free testing stopping.

I'm assuming the scam is for you to pay them for a test you'll never receive & of course they'll have your bank details

Had to have a covid test before surgery last week and hospital nurse handed me the kit and said I could do it myself, which I found a bit surprising.

Numbers are still dropping (lowest for a year) and the invites for jab 4 are trickling down (those under 70 starting to get them).

They’re predicting flu to hit hard as well. Strangely, those not on the priority list can buy a flu jab privately but not a Covid one.

Went on a long weekend canoeing trip a few weeks ago. One of the guys caught it just before we set off and managed to spread it to all but one of the rest of us. He tested positive the day we got back. Rest of us positive 2 days later.
Only one that didn’t catch it was someone that had it about 2 months ago.
Wasn’t too bad though. Nowhere near as bad as when I had it in 2020. More like a bad head cold

Had to go for an X-ray Thursday, took a face masks, put it on at the door, as it turned out, they were now optional. Approx. 20 people huddled together in the waiting room, 5 were wearing a mask

Blood test at my doctors on Friday, still compulsory to wear a face mask. Mentioned it was no longer compulsory at the hospital & the nurse was clearly hovering between shock & anger.
